sweat it out...

here's another post from me saying, 'it's time to get healthy!' 'i'm really going to work out this time! for real.' really though, i'm getting older, my body is (sadly changing) and i'm realizing that i'm going to have to include some time of working out into my routine. my girl friend asked me earlier in the week if i wanted to join her for a $30 trial at a hot yoga studio, which gets you 21 days. i figured, why not. i've done bikram yoga (but quit after 5 classes or so for no good reason), and these classes aren't quite as intense or quite as hot as bikram.
of course, i didn't wear socks to class.

i wear pretty much as little as possible, sometimes even a sports bra. the class we did was more relaxing than bikram, though we still sweat a lot, and a little slow for my liking. but, we'll try out some other classes during our trial. i've also found a youtube girl that i really like, cassey at blogilates. i've been doing some of her videos at home for about 2 weeks now. she's upbeat and fun, and the videos are generally 10-20 minutes and leave you shaking and feeling it the next day!

please, let yoga/pilates be something i can stick with!

love, tempted by sales and yoga update

creative title, huh?
so if you saw yesterday, dylan posted this on his blog. so of course, last night i added mine back on his blog.
yeah, we're cheesy, but you do things like this when you live apart.

yesterday before class, i took chloe for a walk like usual. i figured i would go to holt renfrew because i remembered they were having a summer sale where things were up to 60% off. i saw a lanvin 'love canvas pochette' on the sale table when i walked in. of course, the original price was like stupid high for what it was($350 i think), but once it was marked down, it was more reasonable. i hummed and hawed over it, walked around the rest of the store, thought about it some more, took a picture, sent it to dyl etc... then i just went for it. i mean, considering when i look at net-a-porter, and the cheapest lanvin thing on there is a $245 key chain (and i definitely paid much less than $245), how could i not get it? i think i actually got it for a bit more than 60% off, it was marked down twice. besides, when will i be able to afford anything by them again? certainly not in the near future!

and lastly, thanks for the words of encouragement with yoga the other day-i did it! i went on sunday (by myself!) and suffered through it. it was tough, it was challenging, and i had to stop a couple times. but i made it through. i also sweat like crazy (remember, it's bikram yoga). but obviously that's expected. seriously, like my finger tips and ears were sweating... didn't even know they could...as soon as it was over and they put the cool air on, i felt amazing. i/m hoping to back again either friday or sunday. 9 times left on my card! by the way, my legs are still sooo sore!!

can someone please be my drill sargeant?

i need a swift kick in the ass. i want to do bikram yoga! (for anyone who doesn't know, you do 26 postures 2x each and 2 breathing exercises in a room with the temperature at 105 degrees and 40% humidity-and the classes are 90 minutes). i've talked about it a bit before, but that was a long time ago. let me recap. last april i think, a new studio opened up and i bought a week trial pass. i went 3 or 4 times and decided i liked it. so i told my mom that for my birthday, i wanted a 10 class pass. fast forward to present day, ie like 15 months later, i still haven't used one class. good thing the pass doesn't expire, so says the website. so now here i am, and i want to use them. i just don't want to go to my first class alone because it's been so long. i'm being a chicken.
while i may want to pass out during some of the poses, and look like i just took a dive in a pool when i leave the class, i love the way i feel when after. i've made dylan promise to come to a class with me, so i can get back on track.
so, will someone please yell at me to get my butt there and stop being a baby!?? because honestly, i want to go, and that's half the battle, right?
i kind of just want to be able to this haha ( via )

and really, the majority of the poses aren't that bad. there's just one or two in particular near the end where you have to put your head back and that always made me nauseous. but whatever, you get passed (or past? crap, i don't know) it. so please, do/say something to make me go haha

bikram yoga

wow, what an experience

we walked in the room, and surpisingly, it wasnt quite as hot as i had worked myself up to think. granted, it was still like being in a sauna. so we layed there on our mats, waiting for the class to start. a few minutes later, i have sweat forming on my back already lol greattt im not even moving yet!!

anyways, there was about 12 people in this class. me and dylan were the only 1st day people, but a few others who were only on their 2nd day, so we felt better. the class started and i was doing ok...before class, me and dylan had imagined that we would laughing at ourselves not being able to the poses and what not. but surpisingly, as soon as class started, we both zoned right in, and barely looked at each other. after maybe ide say, 25 minutes or so, i started to get faint. so i had to lay down. i was then ok to continue on again. sweat was pouring off of me like ive never seen, and i didnt even think my body had it in me to sweat that much! lol

the poses were getting more difficult as the time went on, and later on again, i had to sit down. but its really amazing how flexible you become in the heat. i was able to do things that i never thought possible! quite awesome. the class was coming to an end, and we were both struggling our way through. it wasnt even the heat that was bothering me in the end. its once you get to like pose maybe 17 and on, you have to lay down and then get up quickly into the next pose, then lay down, and up quickly to next pose, and so on..you get the point...i think the fas pase from up and down really took a toll on me and did me in.

need less to say, we finished the class and were impressed with ourselves. the teachers and front desk were happy too! haha half the battle of the first class is staying in the room...
so we ended up buying the 7 day trial pass for $20...so have all week to go and try it ...
i didnt go today, but i plan on going tmrw and possibly wednesday, and thursday ..and maybe friday and saturday?!? hmmm we'll see..i really WANT TO like this, and i know i just have to give me body a chance to get used to the heat. plus, the benefits of this: like toning, and the exercise and flexibility will be rewarding also. so i will MAKE myself like this lol
the only downfall: its quite costly..monthly, 10 passes..ya $$$$

anywho..thats my first time experience
hot, sweaty, challenging, intense, and rewarding..all wrapped up in one 90 minute heat wave.
