valentine's day...

this valentine's day was a good one; we spent the weekend together just enjoying some quality time. we're not big in to this holiday, all i really ask for is a card every year. this year, dylan went a little beyond that.

while walking home from work on friday, i was listening to music on the spotify app. all of a sudden, my music just changed to one of my favourite songs; hall and oates - you make my dreams come true. i knew right away that dylan had changed it from at home on his computer and it put a huge smile on my face. as soon as i walked in the door, i saw a huge display sitting on our cabinets.

we also went and saw fifty shades of grey on friday night. i had never read the books and didn't really know much about the story line, except what's been talked about in the media the last few weeks. i have to say, i didn't find it half bad and the ending left me saying, "that's where it ends?!"

sometimes you just have to stop and take a few selfies. lately dylan has been starting work early (at 6pm), which means he leaves our place around 5. with me getting home around 5:20, it means we've been missing each other. it also means that all the dinners we planned on sunday for the week have either been put on hold or eaten solo. hashtag sadface.

thank goodness it's friday. yes, the week has gone by quickly, but it has also been exhausting and i'm ready for the weekend. 

lucky 7 + 1...

yesterday we celebrated 8 years together. it's hard to even wrap my head around that number, i mean, that's a long time! it feels like we've been together forever, and yet sometimes it doesn't feel that long.

he wears work boots, i wear heels. it's like it was made for us.

i won a $200 gift card at work that can be used at a variety of restaurants, so we'll be using that to treat ourselves to a nice italian dinner on saturday. other than that, we have no plans except to enjoy each other's company for many more anniversaries to come!

thanksgiving hike...

on saturday morning, we woke up at my parent's house ready for a nice thanksgiving dinner later on. to pass some time, we decided to go on a hike. hamilton just happens to be the waterfall capital of the word (seriously) and since it had been years since we had been to webster's falls, that's where we decided to go.

after we chose the location, i remembered that that place was the very first hike i ever went on, and dylan was the one to take me. the year was 2006 and we took pictures in front of the falls; when i posted them on facebook, a bunch of people joked that they looked like engagement photos. we found that pretty funny, considering we weren't even officially dating yet.

since i still have the picture of us in front of the falls hanging in my room at my parent's, i took a picture of it before we left so that we could try to recreate it. we had to wait a bit for people to leave the area, and it took a bit to find the perfect rock to place the phone on without it tipping over, but we got pretty darn close! (and thank you to the iphone 6 finally having a timer!!)

the hike was a perfect start to a weekend of stuffing our faces with mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted veggies, pies, and more. and now that thanksgiving has passed, it's basically christmastime, right?

celebrating seven...

over the weekend, we went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. we went to a place nearby that we both love, gusto 101, and even got the same plates we did last time, because they're just so good. one day we'll venture out and try other things on the menu. afterwards, we went out to do some christmas shopping in the frigid cold (seriously, it got down to -13C). shortly after we got home, dylan headed into work to do some overtime and i, unfortunately, was sick and throwing up! it wasn't food poisoning, but some weird stomach thing i've been getting for years sometimes after i eat out. i've yet to find what's causing it, or what common ingredient i keep eating, but it doesn't normally actually make me sick, just feeling like i will be. but this time, it came up. but enough about that sick stuff.

lucky 7...

today marks 7 years with this man of mine. it's just going by at lightning speed, especially the last year. he's the best; he works hard, makes me laugh like no other, pushes me out of my comfort zone, and i'm able to be 100% myself around him. living together for almost a year and a half now has been the best decision we've ever made. it changed our relationship so much, and in a good way.

kiss the bride...

this weekend was the wedding of my 'older brother' so to speak. our parents have been neighbors for 28 years (along with 4 other houses all in a row on their street), so we've known each other/grown up together our whole lives. the wedding was beautiful and  a good time had by all. 

side story: i bought my dress for the reception part months ago (found on a sale rack, 1 left, my size!) and knew that i had this bra (note: nsfw, since it's a picture of a gal in a bra), so i didn't bother to check and make sure i had 2 pieces of tape, since hey, i only remember wearing it once and it came with 6 pieces. (the side of the dress as well, making a regular strapless bra not possible.) half hour before we planned to leave, i go to get dressed, only to find i have 1 piece of tape left. oh shit. i wake dylan up from his nap, and tell him we need to go NOW to the lingerie store nearby to buy a few more pieces of tape. i need to also mention it was pouring all day, a hair nightmare. i run in, they don't sell it; sales associate tells me she thinks she's seen it somewhere else, we speed there. nope, not there either. i get home defeated, not wanting to go braless. my only option left, that was worth a shot- cut the single piece of tape in half and hope it's enough strength to support. bingo. it works! we're now 10 minutes after we were supposed to leave, i put my dress on, zip it up, and hook the little clip at the top... it pops off. seriously?! i was then standing in my dress and my mom was sewing it back on. nothing like a little pre-wedding stress. thank goodness it wasn't my wedding day.
