proud...

this guy here, he works hard for us. he recently took his licensing exam for work and after a (long) 3 weeks, he found out he passed (duh!). along with a big raise, he gets a lot more responsibility at work, and he can now take a bit of vacation time. he works crazy hours, starting a different times every day, and often long shifts; last week, he worked 66 hours. this job is no easy feat, and certainly not for everyone, but he's kickin' butt at it. for one more year, he'll be the supporter, while i go back to school for the next 12 months, and after that? well, i should easily get a job (one can hope) and we'll be golden.

this next year, it'll be a good one.

week 1 down...

it's finally friday. my first week of work is finally winding down. by 7pm tonight, i'll have put in my 40 hours for the week. but man, working is hard. shocker, i know.
but how did it go? what are my thoughts? the one word that comes to mind is overwhelming. i was basically on the verge of tears the third morning. i was thinking that i'm never going to catch on, and i don't want to wait 8 weeks for it to 'click' like they say it probably will take. i also had awful cramps that day, and i'm sure you can put two and two together and assume what that means, and i'm also sure that had something to do with my emotions. but, as the day went on, it got a lot better and slowly (very slowly) i'm catching on.
the people seem pretty awesome, which is great because that can definitely make or break a job, and i'm sure i will end up having fun there.
hopefully today will be better than the last 4 and that's the direction it will keep going in. i know there will be some days where it feels like i'm taking a step back, but that's to be expected. lets hear it for the weekend! me and dyl are going apple picking bright and early tomorrow morning (like 8am) because he works at 12 and that's what we gotta do if we want to go apple picking this month. so lets also hear it for morning dates!
sad but true. via
or in my case, enough to pay rent and loans. oh joy. via

enjoy the (long) weekend.
and happy thanksgiving to the canadians!!

she works hard for her money...

as i said on friday, i planned on helping dylan move some stuff. i can now say i was actually pretty helpful! but, we decided to pick the paint and do that, rather than actually move stuff.
 we scraped walls
we washed walls. i can't believe i actually washed walls. i must love him or something.

 hard at work.
the boss is just taking a break.
ready to paint for my first time! i think i look pretty legit.
sweetwood for the walls.

 i swear i'm working.

we fixed up some spots on the wall, and then painted the wall that didn't need fixing. then the went back saturday night and gave everything one full coat. he finished the second coat last night, and today a buddy of his is helping him move in the heavy stuff. done and done.

also, a few weeks ago when dylan got a new android phone, he got a free camera along with it! it finally came in the mail and he gave it to me! woohoo. it's the samsung sh100; 14 megapixel, touch screen with wi-fi! it's actually pretty awesome. i obviously have the fiddle with the settings or something, because there's no reason a 14mp camera should produce grainy photos, like some of these. but, all the photos above that have 'effects' are straight from the camera. it's got a tonne of built in photo filters (and for movies too), which is really cool. i can also email myself photos and send them right to facebook, from the camera. wicked. so, that's that. it's my new toy and i would say getting a $250 camera for free is a pretty sweet deal.
