it's a dog's life...
it's that time of year again when we dog sit for dylan's aunt and uncle while they go away. we've done it for probably 5 or 6 years now, and we usually stay at their place, hang out with the dog, and enjoy their pool. but now that we're both in toronto, we decided to have spooner come stay with us. and of course, dylan had a boys camping trip planned in the quebec wilderness right after we got him. we picked him up thursday night and dylan left friday morning through to sunday evening. so, it was just me and my fur friend for the weekend! friday evening, i had a girl friend sleep over and we went for dinner, which was nice (her boyfriend was one of the guys that went with dylan; the english).
he's adjusting pretty well, the only thing he's quite nervous of is the elevator; pretty sure he's never been on one before. it's crazy how many people comment on how beautiful he is while i'm walking him (it's true though). as for me? this is my first experience with having a shedding dog in my place, which is a good thing because i want a bernese mountain dog oh so badly, and they shed like mad. my white floors? covered in black hair. buuutttt, i'm pretty sure it's worth it when you have an awesome dog.
"what are we doing?"
"you want me to look at the camera?"
"like this?"
we've got this handsome fella until this sunday. in the meantime, chloe is staying with my parents and getting fed far too many treats, i'm sure.

peaks and pits..

-finding a dress for an october wedding. i have the worst luck in searching for dresses for events (weddings, showers, etc), i will literally search store upon store, try on anywhere between 20-40 dresses and find nothing flattering. i don't enjoy the process. i was with a friend last week and we happened upon urban outfitters, i was browsing around, saw this dress (the only one there) in the sale rack for $59. i loved it, but looked at the size and figured it would be too small. but i tried it anyways. it couldn't have fit better, i fell in love, and for the price, how could i not get it?! sold! now i just have to wait 4 months to wear it....
-woofstock. obviously. enough said.
-we wanted a new show to watch and though we're like, 9 years behind, we've started lost! i'm sure it'll take us months to get through all six seasons (we're only on episode 19 of season 1), but we're totally hooked. no spoilers please!
-using the 'workouts' app. i love that you can pick the intensity and search by the area you want to work on, and whether you want something short (like 5 minutes or 10 minutes), or something a little longer. i did a few arm workouts while watching so you think you can dance the other night. feel the burn!
-finding a few nearby cafes that make a really good americano.

-applying for a few jobs that i would actually like, that pay relatively well, and that i'm actually somewhat qualified for, but not getting any calls yet.
-meal planning. thinking of different things is difficult, therefore we usually fall back on a few regulars. we need to spice things up.
-my poor feet after a 10k walk yesterday in flats. i went out to just go for a normal window browsing walk, but i kept walking, and walking, and walking. and then what do you know, 10k later, i'm home and my feet have blisters.
i keep scratching my head that today is thursday since all day yesterday, i kept thinking it was tuesday. i guess i can't complain about being closer to the weekend than i thought, though.

hi, we live in canada. did you forget?
friday was a little bit of a crazy day. I was supposed to work at the office in the am then go off to my new job for 3pm (& spend my saturday off shopping with my mom), but something happened to a girl
at work & i had to go in saturday. therefore, canceling my friday shift. anyways, after a quick shift at the office, me and my mom went to a mall we haven't been to in years in hopes of getting some christmas shopping done. my mom was lucky enough to find a few things, but I walked out empty handed. we left the mall parking lot at 6:02pm, knowing we would he hitting some rush-hour traffic, but probably not more than an hour. we couldn't have been more wrong if we tried.
let me start by saying that this is normally a 40 minute drive. i fell asleep almost immediately (like i always do in cars) & woke up an hour later...to us still sitting in traffic. it had started very lightly flurrying out a few hours before. i kept updating twitter about how long this was taking, making a joke out of it. But 1 hour became 2 hours, became THREE hours. it became apparent that this wasn't rush-hour traffic anymore, but because of the snow, which was hardly anything, by canadian standards anyways. i was texting my dad around 7:30 and he was all, "guess i'll see you guys around 10pm!" and we were "haha, funny, ya right."
care to take a guess as to what time we walked in the door, from what should have been a 40minute drive? 11:58pm. MIDNIGHT. 6 HOURS LATER. i mean, i don't even understand! They say the first snowfall is always the worst on drivers, because everyone forgets how to drive in the snow, but this was craZzzyyy. Bumper to bumper for 6 hours, going no more than 5km/h most of the time. I don't think we got even more than 3cm of snow. parts of the highway were slippery with ice, i'll give it that, but still.. My god.
me and my mom started getting a little delusional! laughing at the hilarity and ridiculousness of this whole mess, what else could we do. Christmas music can only hold you over so long though. by hour 4 we were getting hungry! & thirsty! & i had to pee! man oh man, what an adventure *that* was.

this was the snow that held us up.
santa had a pretty awesome set-up though.
pretty pretty.

scatterbrained...
a few random photos that don't require their own post, or really have much of a point, for that matter. but, here they are anyways...
we returned just a few bottles back to the beer store. we got a whole $6.10 back!
an early saturday morning; i was on the bed reading (spying), while dylan was putting together our office desk.
damage-free hanging? i think not. we now have to fix that ugly mistake.
a 'b' bracelet my girl friend got me for my birthday.
along with this scrub from sabon in nyc which smells absolutely amazing and leaves my skin baby soft.

pina colada in my parents backyard, just relaxing. sunday dinners at their place is totally our thing now.
every morning, we have breakfast with the squirrels. we drink our coffee, while they sit up in this tree right by our deck gnawing on the nuts (loudly) and chucking down all the unwanted nuts (which then hit the metal shed below).
look what finally came in the mail! even though i use the iphone app, this is still fun to have.
wind in the hair out the car window.
twins baby shower. yummy cakepops.
and that's all there is to say about that.

one extreme to another...
lately, life has been a little boring. i've been at another location for 2 weeks now, and my work schedule has pretty much been the opposite of what i typically get. while it's been a nice change of pace, and nice to get to know different people, i'm ready to get back to my regular schedule with the people i normally work with. plus, working at 7:30am is really screwing my sleeping; even though i'm an early bird, i'm not up that early (6am).
i browsed the sale section of the book store the other day and treated myself to a new book. so far so good.
when i'm not working, this is what we're doing. and when the weather is cooperating, we're out for walks.
speaking of the weather, last week i was in shorts and a tank top. monday and tuesday of this week, i had to wear a winter coat, a scarf, and earmuffs. and they're calling for snow tomorrow. so weird. in other boring news, i have to get my passport renewed today because it expires the day before we get back from nyc. quite annoying. i'm not looking forward to likely sitting in an office among a hundred other people for a couple hours. luckily, dylan is coming with. what a way to spend my day off...

the missing engagement ring...
a long time ago (this has been sitting in my draft for a while), i asked a question on twitter, but i thought i would ask it here too. it's certainly nothing deep and philosophical. it has to do with engagement rings. i noticed when looking at pictures on facebook, that a few of my engaged friends didn't have their engagement rings on in pictures when they were going out with friends/ at a bachelorette party. (note: i guess i'm really nosy to notice this); i noticed this on more than 1 girl.
a few pictures were at a hotel drinking before going out. so i suppose they could have put the ring on after the pictures, and before leaving. but there were others where they were out without it. this struck me as weird, to be honest. i asked on twitter, 'do girls want to appear single?' 'are they afraid of losing it?' what gives? i mean, once i get my ring, i'm not planning on taking it off!! unless i'm in the shower, in a pool, or on a beach or something, i'm pretty sure that ring will be glued to my ringer. just because i'm going out with my girl friends does not mean that thing will stay at home.
thoughts on this?

and just because, what's a post about engagement rings without a pretty wedding picture?

+10 in the style department...
i finally found a pair of colored skinny jeans that, a) look good and fit good, and b) were cheap ($29 from h&m). while they look blue in the picture, they're actually purple and i kind of love them. and i got new shoes too, which are pretty cute. they're actually for work, but i'll most definitely be wearing them outside of work too.
still looking for red skinnies though...

i make shopping fun...
dylan loves to go shopping with me..
seriously, how it ready friday again? not complaining, but the weeks are going faster and faster. so far, today seems like kind of a gloomy day, and after the day i had yesterday, i just want to lay in bed and read the book i just started-'the year of living biblically' by A.J. Jacobs. i'm pretty sure it's going to be hilarious and ridiculous.
i played with the shake weight; that thing is ridiculous and i felt ridiculous doing it. but my arm did hurt after i was done. you know what it resembles when you're shakin' it, right? dylan also took a video of me using it, but he said some thing not appropriate for the blog. i'll leave it at that.
i got my tennis on. i'm ready to go pro any day now.
i wear massive glasses while dylan shops for a new school bag.

so, who else plays around while shopping and then takes pictures of themselves??

bachelorette boredom...
who is bored with the bachelorette this season? i know i am. now, i will never miss an episode. and if i do, you better believe i will be watching it online the next day. however, about 45 minutes in, i always start to lose interest. and after 9pm, it's like pulling teeth to get through the rest of that episode. and i can't really pin point why. i didn't really care for her when she was on the bachelor, but there was no particular reason. even with all the bentley drama, it has still failed. here's a few bullet points...
-like many others, i had no idea ben and constantine were 2 different people. i still can't tell them apart-looks wise and personality.
-this week, she said to constantine, "you've never been on a helicopter!?" she was flabbergasted! you would think he said he's never driven in a car the way she reacted.
-she's pissed that constantine can't say he loves her after like, 4 or 5 weeks? is she for real?
-she opened the fantasy suite card after he left, as if she had no idea what it was going to say...
-fantasy suite. sex. fantasy suite. sex. how many of them do you think get down to business?? i'm so curious. first of all, they've known each other a hot minute (but, no judgment!) but what if it was 3 for 3? 3 in 3 nights?? ehhh a little gross...
if you follow me on twitter, you pretty much know these thoughts. i tweet too much during the show, and maybe too much in general? either way, you'll be happy to know it's over next week. thank god. i already know the ending, thanks to reality steve. i always say i don't want to know how it's going to go down, however, by the second or third week into the seasons, i'm reading the spoilers.

you know you have a good dentist when there is pictures like this of them online. *rolls eyes*
anyone else have thoughts on this season??

dolla dolla bills...
i may be 24 years old, but i have a piggy bank. i throw the odd loonie or toonie in there when i think about it, and sometimes throw some bills in there. dolla dolla bills. every once in a while, i decide to spill out the contents on my bed and count it.
my little helper. clearly i was interrupting her slumber.
it may say 'shop till you drop' but that's not what it's for.
the $60 off to the side belongs to dylan. not including his, i have about $300 in it so far. i've mentioned before that we're using our air miles for a cruise (eventually), so i will likely use this money for the taxes or towards the flight. every little bit helps, folks.
moral of the story for this stinkin' hot friday? get a piggy bank ;)

underneath it all...
since i'm still unemployed (i say still like it's been a year, it's been like, a month), i took it upon myself to clean out one of my drawers. the drawer that is stuffed to the brim of pj's, bras, undies and socks. when it was piled on the bed, i was kind of shocked how much crap fit in there..
that's a big pile o' stuff...
is it normal to have this many pairs of socks??
the 'bottoms'
i couldn't resist (these 2 are iphone pics)...she's ready for the beach??
she's like, whatever, i don't even care at this point..these are also the oldest shorts EVER
so yeah, not only have you seen my underwear and bras, you've seen my dog wearing them. i went there. and i'm not ashamed.
but, what it broke down to:
-66 pairs of ankle socks (only ankle socks are acceptable & only 1 single sock!); 1 pair of legwarmers, and 1 pair of black socks (i hate black socks)
-4 sets of pj's (i get sets all the time, so i must throw out random tops or bottoms??)
-7 shorts (what i live in at home)
-16 bras/bandeaus
7 nighties
-5 tshirts/long sleeved shirts
-5 workout tops + 1 pair of workout shorts (errr, i don't work out)
-and other random undies and tanks
and there you have it.
...

we're a hipster family now...
aren't we all so cool and hipster-like? do you also like that they are 3 of the most random pictures of us? (and that would be my grad photo. didn't love my hair, but meh; also i took a pic of the picture, hence the glare)
i think we're pretty cool and our hipster points are off the chart.

you are still in the running.. to be americas next top model...
did anyone watch the premier of top model? see how they did the whole behind the scenes photos? well me and dyl watched it with my mom friday before getting ready. so when i started doing my makeup for the night, dyl decided to bust out the camera. let it be known i'm so awkward in front of the camera unless i'm just with friends and laughing or saying 'cheese.'
the only thing i use to edit is windows picture viewer--i change the contrast and saturation.
maybe me and dyl should start recreating the shoots every week? ha wouldn't that be something.

7-number of weeks i have left of my university career! (not incl. exams) wow, that's frightening
0-things i plan to do on my break. haha ok, that's not totally true, but i would like it to be.
think it's cold in toronto?

miniatures...
life in mini form...
and my two rings that i wear daily. the heart one i bought myself and it's for my pinky and the other is from dylan. we got it when we were in new york (story here- although it's not really a story :P). i can't believe i'm going on 3 years wearing this ring (and dylan too, he's also got one) and i still look at it sparkle every day. even when we go into different stores with different lighting, i stare lol
i was *that* girl that wore a crown to her birthday outings - & it's still sitting on my shelf
a mini colander i got in my stocking. my mom said it's for washing berries. i didn't tell her that i don't wash my berries (i fear this may sound dirty in some way ha). i guess i should start now.
another stocking stuffer..a solid chocolate cupcake
and these not so miniature shoes i got at forever 21 yesterday. i feel they could kind of turn hooker-ish, so they definitely won't be worn with skirts or dresses; strictly pants! can't beat $30 though, although they're a bitch to walk in...
