baking fail...

you all know i love my red velvet. blah blah blah i don't even have to say it anymore. lately, i've been seeing red velvet pancakes everywhere and i decided it was finally time to make them. for dinner nonetheless.
ready. set. go.
my arms are a mixmaster, no need to bust out the real thing..
it made a heck of a lot of batter, i should add...

now, things were all fine and dandy until it came to putting the baking powder in. it was supposed to be 1.5tsp. as i was pouring it in the bowl, i noticed the B in the tbsp (and i was also using the 2tbsp one, thinking i was using the 2tsp and i just put a little less). what a flop. i googled what happens when you put way too much, and just how much more i put. i put nearly 6x the amount. ugh, such a bummer. who makes that mistake??? i bake too much to make that mistake. i blame the cold i had (and still have!).
anyways, you could tell the pancakes were off, but i still ate a few. however, i will attempt them again and make them the right way before i can say my final verdict ;)

this is slightly awkward...

first of all, let me just say how my parents house is set out. you walk in the front door, there's a hallway straight ahead and the living room is to the right. the hallway is maybe 15-20 long and then it goes right upstairs. at the stairs, the kitchen is to the right. probably a terrible explanation, but whatever. chloe loves to run from the front door, all the way up the stairs, to the end of the upstairs hallway and back to the front door like a madwoman. she goes super fast and does a lot of laps until she's tired. ok, now that that's outta the way...

lemme set the scene..weekday morning, my parents are at work and me and dyl are in the kitchen figuring out what to eat for breakfast. he says something along the lines of, "imagine when we have a house this big; what are we going to do with all this space?" and for some reason i just pictured him running back and forth like chloe does. then i decided to show him what i thought and i started running back and forth. on my way up the stairs, i meant to kind of slow down and lay down, but i failed. i landed harder than expected and got carpet burn while laughing my face off...

it's like, "oh what happened to your elbow?" "well, ya know, just running up and down the hallway like the dog..."       *crickets*
i texted my friend and sent her a picture, and she was all "are you joking? haha" and i informed her that no, i was not joking. i'm a bit of an artard.
it doesn't look that bad, but it stung like a bitch all day. and the next day. and then even worse the 3rd day. it got much redder and now it's scabbing (this happened thursday morning). lovely. i think because i always had long sleeves on and it was rubbing, so i finally put a band-aid on.

so there's your life lesson for the day; don't run like an idiot! you'll fall and it'll sting. and then you'll have a not so cute scab.

i got duped...

the scene: coming back from nyc (2009) on a bus, 2am, i had been sleeping since we left at 10pm. the bus pulls over at a rest stop so everyone can get mcdonalds and use the washrooms. then i ask dylan a simple question...

'how come the bus never has to stop for gas?' (in a 12hr ride, it never got gas once)

he replies every so quickly, 'it's powered on air'

i give him a confused look, thinking this one thru...he sees my confusion and takes even more advantage of it...

'ya, didn't you see that it said that on the website? it runs on air!' he says

i am utterly perplexed and respond with, 'isn't that like, the future? why isn't everything run on air?'

then, he kind of started laughing and i clued in, and the both of us were dying of laughter. true story, it's definitely one of my finer moments. haha
