the ultimate pie-off...

place your bets because we have a PIE-OFF happening. it started last week after getting doughnuts and dylan told me i should try my hand at making a pie. i said that making the crust is often the hardest part (so i hear) and while i'm a pretty good cook and baker, i wasn't sure i could tackle a proper crust. somewhere along the way, dylan suggested having a pie competition, and thus, the PIE-OFF was born.
 d vs. b - it's on.

as soon as we got home, we took a few pictures and dylan got to work on the above poster. when i posted it on facebook, the likes and comments started piling in and people are loving it. the rules? well, not many, really. it has to be all from scratch - no canned fillings and no frozen pie crust. duh, this is a competition! i'm leaning towards making a blueberry pie and dylan is thinking about a cherry pie. who will be the judge? that's to be decided; we've had quite a few offers on facebook haha. not only that, everyone wants to see this go down, so hopefully dylan will be able to make a small video out of it.

we have a few supplies to get first, like rolling pins and pie dishes. this won't go down for a few more weeks since i have exams coming up. once those are done, i have 3 weeks off and will have all the time in the world to devote to this challenge.

now, should we each go on a different day, or give each other say, 3 hours in the kitchen to bake the pie start to finish and then switch? we'll have to decide that in the coming weeks. you know, tiny condo kitchen problems.

you're goin' down dyl.

we're *in* nature...

me and dylan used to be *quite* the hiking couple. in fact, pretty much the first time we really hung out, he took me hiking. unfortunately, it's been a while since we've been, but last night, i was thinking about it.
october 26, 2006. 1 month before we 'officially' started dating. doesn't it look like an engagement photo? haha that's what everyone has always said.
water's a flowin' (these are now from 2008).
so young. so cute.
strong like hulk.
 checkin' out the view.
 ohh dangerous.
 living on the edge.
look, we rock climb! (not really, it's an illusion).
see, another illusion. but lets just pretend i can really rock climb with no harness.

muscles; don't mess with me.

it's been so long since we've been hiking. this spring, i'll be sure we get out there. especially because it's something dylan really loves to do. and hey, if i can feel my legs burning, and get a good workout while i'm at it, why not?

the fun never ends...

oh wonderland. a good time had by all. and by all, i mean me and dylan. there was lineups (but not too long), perfect weather, a wave pool, stupid $10 lockers at the water park part, expensive food, plenty of rides, and lots of high pitched screams from yours truly.
starting point. where to turn next...
the must have picture
immediately after getting off the 1st roller coaster. hair-a mess.
 oh hey up there
 water park relaxing

it's like the kiddy swing, except 301 feet high, and swinging at 50km/hr
i barely could open my eyes. scared sh*tless, people!
and this crazy ride, that's a pretty steep hill there on the left

also, can you tell me what would compel someone to go to an amusement park in heels. yes, heels. who are you trying to impress? do you think you look good? because you look like an idiot. i saw at least 3 or 4 women. but this one takes the cake...
stealth iphone photo.

she was walking around like this and going on rides like this. so gross. i'm sure she thought she was lookin' hot, and her bf/husband probably thought so too. her face looks like she came from the streets (drugs, hooker?) oy. they were actually behind us in line for one ride, and then apparently my restraint wasn't securing properly (whoa, scary) so they switched me and dylan to other seats. who did they switch with? these 2 above! so do i want to sit where the naked girl was sitting, or the large sweaty guy? gross. but then they took our seats; not sure how that worked out? if it wasn't securing for me, why put someone else in it?? (she was a bitch to the employees in line, so i feel ok calling her a trashy hooker ha)

see you in october for fearfest, wonderland! thanks for a good day :)

rollercoasters & water parks & funnel cakes, oh my!

today, dylan and i are off to wonderland! it's been years and years since i've been in the summer. and even at that, i've been with girl friends; never with dylan. the times we've been together have been in october when it's fearfest time (see here and here) and the park is transformed into mazes and walking zombies. good times. but, dylan has 2 free tickets, so yay! i think it's going to be pretty nice today (about 25̊C), so we'll probably spend some time at the water park part, too.
 circa 2005, hence the quality.
what a beast; he just needed a little lovin'
ahhhhh read to go up!...me and rides? we're like pb&j. (2007)

time to be a kid for a day.
and hopefully not get burnt.
and eat funnel cakes..ohhh funnel cakes...
deep fried dough, ice cream...
need i say more???
later!

sunday morning fooling around...

dylan threw me a pair of his undies (clean of course, right out of the package), so what else was there to do but put them on over my tights? they were like old fashioned pantaloons on me...

i might have put one of chloe's round stuffed toys in there too *ahem*
hmph.. i think the eyes give it away that this was shortly after i woke up.

*ya ya, that bookshelf in behind is a mess..plus on top is a sewing kit and chloe's coat/boots + a board with restaurant cards on it=clutter*

and we named her ginger...

on our last day on the beach, dylan went to go try to start a bbq for some lunch. then all of a sudden i see this friendly looking dog trotting towards us 3 girls. then dylan comes back and he's like "look what i found" and we're all like, "umm WTF!?" but i totally fell in love immediately. i randomly started calling her Ginger, because that's what she reminded me of and it looked like it could be her name. she knew all dog commands and oddly enough she came when we called her Ginger, and not to any other name. maybe i was right? pretty sure she was a goldendoodle. she obviously belonged to someone because she was groomed, knew tricks, good teeth, fed well and so on..
meet "Ginger"-our dog for an hour!
asking her some questions, "who are you?" "what's your name?" "wanna be my friend?" "can i take you home?"
 besties immediately
just chillin' with us..

i seriously miss this dog so much!! haha i now want a goldendoodle and i have such high expectations-to be all friendly, calm, smart, and PERFECT! lol her and chloe would have been great friends. after a while, she kind of wandered off to the one cottage on the beach; it must have been their dog.
see ya next year Ginge!

i'm going on a picnik...

sunday morning, much like the previous morning, we got up early and headed the beach-wasaga beach this time! it was about a half hour drive from where we stayed. the last time i had been there was after high school graduation. there's volleyball tournaments, beer tents, shops, restaurants and a bunch of other things all along the strip.
the beach got very crowded very quickly! temperatures were reaching the 40s and the heat was pretty unbearable at times...
ahh, i'm topless! (not)
walking along the strip...
smores time!! i was waiting all weekend for this!
so so so so damn good. i could have eaten a tonne, but i was well aware i would be in a bathing suit again the next morning haha
monday morning-very upset it's our last few hours. we packed up the car and 4 of us went to the private beach, while the others went back to the public one.
ahh so relaxing
having some fun-not a single other sole was on the beach this day..it was grand
caught mid run..happy even though the sun kept going into hiding..

overall, it was such a good getaway! good friends, good food, good beaches, great weather, great times! however, the last day i forgot to wear sunscreen (even though i'm fair, i only wear Hawaiian tropic 4 and never burn). once we left the beach (i fell asleep by myself on the towel for a good 1/2 hour) and got in the car, the pain started. i thought i was just a little burned, but in quite a bit in pain. my back and tops of my thighs (where i missed the sunscreen the previous days) were almost on fire. when i got home and looked in the mirror-sheer horror-OMG i don't think i had ever been that red in my life! i took a cold shower and it looked like i was wearing a perma-white bikini haha i seriously couldn't even walk up stairs; actually i could barely walk in general. luckily, i kept my face covered with a hat, so that just tanned and didn't burn. and thankfully, 3 days later, the burn has turned into a nice tan, for the most part. **never forget sunscreen!!**

private beach awesome-ness

saturday morning started around 9am..we got up and had some mimosas..mmmm ;)
as the cork flew out, i got scared, therefore i jumped and a blurry pic was the result....
our awesome view (we stayed in collingwood, in the winter all those hills are used for snowboarding/skiing etc)
the cottage that we stayed with had a private  beach, mind you it was a 15 minute drive-which was a little odd to me..but it great. there were only a few other people on the 'beach' (i say that in quotes because there was no sand lol) and the water was so shallow, you could walk over a hundred feet and it would still only be at your knees.
actually, only 5 out of the 18 of us went to the private beach, the others went to the public beach..but i think ours was better ;)
clearly loving life at this moment
cheers!--home from the beach for dinner
corn is absolutely necessary when camping/cottaging

we also played another bocce ball tournament, but sadly, dylan and i didn't too far this time..boo to that. then we all hung around on the balcony and did cottage-y things until it was time to hit the bunks (yes, we all slept in double bunk beds haha)
all of the girls of the trip...notice lola sleeping on me..so cute! *i'm a blonde in a sea of brunettes*
