rick and morty halloween...

i'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume that not many people have heard of, or watch, the show rick and morty. dylan and his friends happen to love it and some of our friends had a rick and morty themed halloween party where everyone was encouraged to dress as characters. we went as the husband and wife team, jerry and beth. we blew up a google image on regular size computer paper and then glued it to a foam-like bristol board from the dollar store. it really could not have been an easier costume. i also tried to make these pretzel spider webs to bring, but even after a few hours the chocolate just did not want to harden again. but of course, when waking up the next day, they were perfect. darn.

 hi jerry.

happy halloween!

a spooktacular time...

happy halloween! i hope everyone has a spooky, candy-filled day (& weekend!). we're being lame this year and not doing anything, but i hope to see some people dressed up around the city, which shouldn't be too difficult, considering it's toronto.

we didn't really have time to carve pumpkins this year, but we had this little one from thanksgiving, so i put my creativity to good use one morning and i got this. fabulous, i know. it's like an unintentional miley tongue pumpkin.

and yes, i think i post these pictures every year, but it's pretty much been my favorite costume ever; a dead bride! we rocked the costume (bride and groom) and the dress was a perfect find in the perfect fit at a thrift store.

i always look forward to the week after halloween to see all of the costumes people come up with. enjoy!

saddle up...

on my way home from class on friday, i had to stop to get a new shower curtain at winners (which is the same as marshalls). i'm not one to veer off from the lists i make. say like, when we go to the grocery store, i have my list and i intent to stick to it, whereas dylan likes to throw things in cart and it makes my heart rate rise. anyways, i have my shower curtain in hand, and right where all the cash registers are, they have shelves of all the items that they want people to grab on the go. you know, like how grocery stores put magazine and chocolate bars? except here, it's nail polish, random snacks, old dvd's, and dog halloween costumes.

i was doomed. i had to get her something. i noticed the tulle was starting to fray at the bottom of the one i wanted so i figured what harm would it be to ask for a discount. it was only $12.99 to begin with, but the cashier said she could do it for $10. hey, sure! i was only expecting about $1 off. i got home, grabbed some scissors, took chloe into the washroom (because this was a surprise to dylan), cut the frayed ends off, and told her to go get dad. we had a good chuckle over her ridiculousness.
cowgirl chloe! (ignore the bucket, dylan was cleaning)
looking mischievous. and maybe slightly pissed.
 she's totally rocking that hat.
sharing some kisses.
she's just the best.

here she is 2 years ago as a bee. tell me you dress up your pets for halloween, too??
also, it's my mom's birthday today, and even though she has no idea this blog exists, happy birthday! :):)

the walking dead...

blood, guts, gore, and death; that's how we spent our saturday. sounds lovely, no? that's right, we went to the toronto zombie walk.
20 minutes of work went a long way.

deadly.
i liked the black and white, too.
ready to hit the road!
this is how it was the whole day; he was a hit.

'zombie grinder' on the top right won first place.

this guy was great, just a simple 'fresh meat' sign.
our trio.
(human) snacks? kind of funny placement considering it's a zombie walk.
more zombies, doing their thang.
it was like this literally every step of the 2km walk. it was insane. and weird. kind of an indication of how celebs feel?
zombies stop at stop lights, too.
breaking out in smiles.
zombies take over yonge dundas square.

they were expecting about 10,000 people to show up and i'm betting that many, if not more, did. we all met at nathan phillip square before the walk and there so many photographers there just taking everyone's picture. i guess it's a pretty cool event to go and get some great shots. some people really went all out and it was pretty impressive. while a lot of people stopped me to take my picture (it was so hard to stay in character and not smile), dylan stole the show. i think he scared a lot of people by then seeing his 'clean' side first, and then he would turn and there would be an empty eye socket! fairly certain we'll be back next year as we had a blast!

oh what a fright...

even though my weekend plans didn't work out, i was still in the halloween spirit. i put chloe in her bee costume (which was a weeee bit too small this year!) for all her walks, which always gets smiles from people,  and even bought myself a headband with bats sticking off it for work. i wore it my whole shift, and let me tell you, people loved it :)
my bumble bee
look at the camera for mommy!

this condo goes all out for all occasions.
my awesome headband i rocked all day long.
 our little happy halloween family.
 until next year!

the halloween that didn't happen...

my halloween was a dud. ie it didn't happen. *insert sad and angry face* saturday afternoon i was out with my mom running a few errands and i started to feel crampy (girls, you know why), but i thought it was way too early for that. then we got to my grandma and grandpa's and it was getting worse. i was rocking away in the rocking chair and it was still there. well, of course i got *it* (tmi?) and the gut wrenching cramps that come along with it every month. i knew pretty much right away that i wouldn't be in any shape to go to a party that night. i was piiiissseddd. i mean, i live for halloween and dressing up.

i guess i may as well say what i was going to be. you saw the main components of my costume here and there wasn't very much to it. well, i was going to be one of dexter's victims. i was going to make myself a cling wrap mini dress with blood in the middle of the cling wrap between my boob-ish area and have a knife sticking out of me (that's where he stabs them). and dylan was going to be dexter. we were all set to be awesome. luckily, my 'costume' cost me all of $8 (for a nude pair of underwear, which i can obviously now wear, so really i spent nothing) because i had the cling wrap and blood. and dylan was able to return the few things he bought.

we ended up hanging out at his place, eating chips and lemon pies with warm pudding (they're to die for and from that show recipe to riches and now selling in grocery stores) and watching DEXTER! how convenient. dylan had a few episodes to get caught up on from this season.
waiting in the car for dylan to finish work. blowing jealous kisses to all those in their skimpy costumes getting ready to party. (i wasn't bitter at all haha)
we picked up some books for our anniversary getaway in less than 3 weeks :)
next day  breakfast at a 50's diner.

 :)
wasting time before the mall opened. i mean, you couldn't get a worse picture, but whatever.
 much happier the next day.
scarf power.

anyways, HAPPY HALLOWEEN folks. chloe will put on her little bumble bee costume from last year for every walk she goes on today :) and also i'll be taking her out tonight after dinner while all the kiddies are out trick-or-treating. i can't let halloween completely pass me by!
