well, it's august and another long weekend is here. we've got no plans as we're in super saving mode right now. anywho, a few snippets of what's going on recently...

toronto's take on the cronut; the crookie from clafouti. let me just say that i don't even really like croissants normally, but this was just insane! there was so much filling, and every bite was just filled with flaky pastry, oreo, and that sweet white centre.

i got my new licence in the mail and yeah, i haven't changed much in 5 years (top: older one); we took a walk around the humane society yesterday and fell in love with plenty of cats and dogs. we left empty handed, of course.

tid + bits...

another weekend is upon us here and i've got some girl friends coming for a visit tomorrow. i foresee wine, selfies, and lots of laughing. also, today dylan is writing his exam for work that will get him his license! what comes with this license is a huge increase in pay. we both know he's going to rock that test, so i'm not worried. in any case, good luck dyl!! moving on, some randoms from lately...

more doughnuts. me and dylan had to take my mom when she came for a visit. every time we try a different flavor. if you're in toronto and have yet to try glory hole doughnuts, you need to walk run there immediately. (left to right - margarita, lemon, and orange with a cream cheese drizzle, all with lemon, ricotta, olive oil doughnut holes)

 getting back into the groove of working out with my new top. i accidentally took like, 3 weeks off. oops.

hilarious. it even had a  toy"wind up"  thingy (?) on the back. (#miniguy on instagram shows him all over toronto)

some of my favorite houses in the city, i call them the gingerbread houses; they're all different colors. that on the right is the result of messy top knots.

can we just talk about the rain for a second? it was so insane on monday; toronto was literally flooding. some people lost power for 36 hours (we lost it for about 6 hours). monday during the day was fine and around 4:30 i took chloe for her pee before we were about to head out for dinner. i saw it getting pretty dark and windy and told dylan we definitely needed an umbrella. about 5 minutes into our 15 minute walk, it starts spitting, then raining a little harder, and then absolute downpour where an umbrella is useless. my hair was all nice and done, so much for that ;) we got to the restaurant looking like we had just been swimming. walking home was no different, so we ditched the umbrella and just laughed about it all. it was seriously coming down like nothing i had ever seen. we had to scale a ledge crossing an under-the-bridge walkway because the water was dirty and up past our ankles. we then realize that the power was out everywhere in the city and we hoped  we'd be able to get up to our place. luckily one elevator was working on a generator. the power didn't stay out too long (maybe 2 hours), but it went out the next day for about 4 hours. (see a little vine video here, crazy pictures here and here and apparently, they're estimating 61 billion litres of liquid fell from the sky in just a few hours.)

a bit of what's going on in these parts lately...

 sunday dinner at my parents = cheese filled rice balls for appetizers.

sunday was also absolutely beautiful at 15 degrees (celsius) 

friday and saturday mornings.

me and dyl were close together looking at something, chloe felt left out, squeezed behind dyl and right between us. i swear, she can never be close enough; her teeth were just hanging out while lying on me one night and makes me lol every time i look at this pic.

the first 3 targets in canada had 'soft openings' about a week ago, so we checked one out; horses in coats, too cute.

about 3y/o here, holding a cigar, beer, chips, wearing overalls and no shirt..must be fun to do what you please to your kids and laugh at them haha; sick on the couch. boo.

a little of what's going on in these parts lately...

dad made rice balls stuffed with either mozzarella or fig goat cheese. they were real good.

 chloe plops herself right between us at night; throwback thursday-me as anne of green gables for halloween in the 90's.

roll up the rim is back, i never win; the handsome mr man (my parents cat)

this one wanted to join me in the bath so badly last night. she got her front end in, and was teetering  on the edge, but couldn't get her hind legs in. had the water not been so hot, i would have given her the push in ;)

weekend scenes...

this weekend consisted of...

 trying out a new-ish coffee place.

 uncharacteristically warm weather in january in canada. it was 13 degrees saturday, but the average is usually around -1.

 reading this book (i liked it!), then watching the movie right away (hated it!). (*and trying out new camera apps*)

endless peach bellini's, homemade pizza, and deep fried wings.

ok, seriously though, did anyone read or see the lucky one? i read the book in 2 days this weekend and thought it was pretty good. i was excited to watch the movie once i was done, so on sunday morning, i watched it while dylan was still sleeping. it was so completely different from the book, and not in a good way. so much was left out and changed and i just wasn't a fan. i didn't feel the chemistry between them and she just looked too old for him. i know she's older than in the book, not by much though, and in real life, but they just didn't mesh. the more i think about it, the more i think i hated the movie. meh. but zac efron was still a treat to look at for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

..or any phone with a camera, really. or just a camera in general. it started with my mom taking a picture of the pizza with her camera (i've turned her into one of us), then my uncle needed a picture, then i thought why not, me too, and realized how stupid we all looked and called on dylan to join in for this picture.

ridiculous.

and then we put our phones away like normal people and ate that delicious pizza before it got cold.

as of yesterday, i *think* i'm done all my christmas shopping. i've got a few extra things to wrap, and that's that! i was somehow given 5 days off (monday to friday) next week, and i'm super excited about that. working those days before and after christmas sucks, in my opinion, and i'm happy to have them off. 8 more days!

everything at once...

whether you like it or not, christmas is invading us in all areas of life; the grocery store, the streets, the weather (cold, but no snow yet), and soon enough, the radio. i love christmas as much as every other blogger, but halloween is too early for it to be put out everywhere. so is before remembrance day. after the US thanksgiving, then it all gets a "thumbs up, go crazy" from me, even though ideally, i like to wait until december 1st.  here's a few ways christmas has been sneaking into my life..
