happy halloween

happy halloween from the bee and bree!!

halloween weekend is HERE...

so, it's finally here isn't it? halloween weekend. woo hoo.

my weekend will be:

-watching all the halloween talk shows; regis and kelly, ellen, and maybe rachael ray

-making pumpkin cake pops (finally! i've been waiting forever)

-maybe making a few caramel apples

-dressing up and going to some bar friday night (duh)

-going to the mall on saturday with (what i'm sure will be) crazy hair from the night before to bring dylan cake pops for him and the people he works with, and looking for a winter coat

-perhaps going out saturday too, we shall see 

-and the best part: working on 2 assignments!! yay :|

boring, windy day

halloween is basically here. can't believe it. i'm going home tonight after class, so in the mean time, i'm cleaning and packing up and reading a bit. it's really, really ridiculously windy here today. and i hate wind. it's annoying and it messes up my hair, ya know?
oh, funny thing-once when i was little (maybe 2 or 3) i was standing on the porch with my mom waving bye to my dad as he was going to work. it was a really windy day and a big gust lifted me off the ground. true story. it may have only been a second or two, but i levitated; like david blaine. i used to be really small, my nickname from my dad was bones. moving on...

this is actually just a screen shot of 'tesla toy' app. there's really no purpose to it, but it's just pretty to watch your fingers create colorful particle movements..

other than having quite possibly the worst battery life i've ever seen or knew a phone could have, everything else about it is amazing! i'm addicted to taking pictures and have downloaded a tonne of the photo apps.  :)

fall in a bowl...

sunday for dinner, i made our favorite soup recipe...cauliflower cheddar soup; a rachael ray recipe. which means it's super easy and the best soup i've ever had. we both just love it. you can get the recipe here; note: 1) i've never made the pinwheels she pairs with the soup, 2) i use a bit more EVOO rather than butter in the soup, and 3) because i don't actually like eating pieces of onion, once i put the cheese and cauliflower in the pot, i use a hand blender in the pot to get it nice and smooth.

see how small my kitchen is?!? this is what i have to work with! it's quite cluttered, not much i can do about that :(

and i had to make pumpkin seeds of course. a little bit of EVOO, salt, pepper and garlic powder. dylan didn't care for them; it wasn't the seasoning, i think he just didn't like eating seeds. ha, whatever. they tasted exactly as i remembered my parents making. :):)

mmm, luckily there is about 1/2 a bowl left in the fridge that i'm going to eat before class! (we got about 4.5 bowls out of the recipe)

pumpkin carving sundays

dylan came up for a visit saturday night after work. on sunday, we picked up some pumpkins at the grocery store (no pumpkin patches nearby) and a few things for homemade soup later in the day.

oh, & i found another decoration in my closet! a rhinestone spider. very chic.

it's beginning to look a *little* like halloween...

while still in bed this morning, i checked the weather. it said it was 0 degrees and the 'real feel' was -3. it's officially cold in the morning and at night. in the day it warms up a bit to about 9 degrees. this means i need to find my gloves ASAP. i really don't want to buy any because i'll be back at my parents next thursday and i know i have a couple pairs there, so i just need to get through the next 6 days.

i figured they might be in my closet, because i tend to throw a lot of random stuff on the top shelf. i did not find gloves, but i did find about 6 scarves, 2 toques, and a halloween decoration. my only halloween decoration unfortunately. check him out, kinda cute, no? ha

so i kind of like the polarize photo app on my phone..a lot!

blackberry lovers, don't turn on me, ok?

this is today; just studying. i've got a midterm at 3. one essay question (in class) about battered womans syndrome and how courts should deal with it. 25%. lets do this! but then, it's my weekend as of 6pm. i love no friday classes, or monday either for that matter-yay for 4 day weekends all semester! and, next week is the only week of the whole semester  i don't have anything due. thank goodness for that.

in unrelated, but far more important news. i was finally able to get a new phone. i complained a lot for the past 6 months or so that my blackberry was crappin' out more and more each day. first, i wasn't eligible for an upgrade until september, then that came and went and i still couldn't get my grubby hands on an iphone 4. i was getting more and more mad at my phone everyday for freezing, having no memory left, trackball not working ..you name it. finally, yesterday, october  20...i got my iphone. after 3 flippin' months since it came out!!

yes, i have moved to the dark side, and may have disappointed some of you. but this phone is awesome. i have the itouch, but man, the screen quality is unreal on this thing. and obviously the apps..oh the photo apps!! love. i downloaded about 8 of them last night (all free ones), and i'm, testing them out to see what i like best, but so far they are amazing. it was like christmas last night haha

the only things i miss? BBM of course (but like i told dylan, it's not 1998, text msg's send now when they're supposed to, you don't need a D or R to tell you that), the flashing light and the little icons at the top of the screen when you  had an email, missed call, facebook message etc. actually, if there is a way to get that last one, and i just don't know, would someone tell me? please?

ok, this turned out way longer than intended. time to get a coffee and study for a few more hours!

costume mania...

with halloween coming up in less than 2 weeks (!!), i thought i would take a look at some of my costumes from the previous years...

2006 (19 y/o), cat woman. this was about the only costume i've ever bought (other than when i was a kid)

2008 (21 y/o), so you think you can dance competitor-this one was very comfy, obviously, and very last minute!

and dylan was a mime, if you couldn't tell ;)

2009 (22 y/o)-50's housewife (ok, the apron was my moms lol)

and dylan was kanye. that was a hit haha (actually, a lot of people thought i was taylor swift, because it was right after the awards where he interrupted her lol)

so other than the cat outfit and the bodysuit i wore for SYTYCD, i've never bought anything for a costume. i've always had everything. and since i've always been something normal and cute, i figured this year i needed to spice it up a bit. so i actually bought everything for my costume this year. while i'm not giving anything away just yet..here's a little sneak preview.. ;)

nothing new or interesting to post about my life today, but a few weeks ago i got an email from my mom (well, a forward, but whatev)-the 20 worst drinks in america...some are here in canada too, but a lot i had never heard of. quite the eye opener. and really disgusting. i'll show you a few just to give you an idea. are you ready? you should be able to enlarge each photo since you probably won't be able to read it without doing so. it was in some weird format and i couldn't figure out how to crop each one down to just the picture...

 

i can't believe any of them really, but the cold stones shake?! 2000 calories?!? it's like 68 strips of bacon?! o.m.g. i will never get that. i'm sure it's delicious, but it's just not worth it. i hope this didn't ruin starbucks for anyone! i'll still drink it, obviously. i've never had the white mocha pictured, but i have gotten the bottled frap a few times (they're cheap at walmart! haha), so that's a little disappointing.

weekend ways...

no plans for today, really. just catching up on reading for classes and doing some leisure reading of my own. maybe flipping through magazines that have been sitting on my desk for 2 months that i haven't had time to read yet (like the september issue of vanity fair with lady gaga on the cover!) sipping on a chai latte and maybe some hot chocolate later. and some soup later for dinner (which i picked up this morning specifically because there was special air miles ;))
my exam schedule came out this morning and i'm done december 16th. not too shabby i guess. still waiting for dylan's to come out (which isn't until sometime early november) to see if we're able to plan a little christmastime getaway.
on another note, i've only got 3 apples left from all the apples we picked. that's sad news :( apples have always been my favorite fruit. mmm of course i've got store bought ones in my fridge too, but they're just not the same.

 a couple magazines, 2 coursepacks, a textbook, and a coffee-adds up to a lot of reading to do this weekend

and at this point, chloe is thinking, "dear god, someone help me get out of here." shame on you chloe, you're 3, you should be used to obscene amounts of pictures by now! ;) and me? i'm in the middle of making a full smile, but not quite there yet.

coughs and rain...

today is such a dreary day outside. it's been raining since last night and isn't supposed to stop any time soon. i'm a little tired of walking to school in the rain. (if i get to stay home, bring it on!) but i'm basically going to be reading for class until it's time to go. maybe it will have decided to stop by then? i'm also trying to get over a cold. last thursday in the middle of class, a sore throat just came out of nowhere. then i got the big, stuffy head feeling, cough, and what not. luckily no fever. i've taken more cough syrup than i care to gag over. (and not to mention, now i have a sore chest from coughing so much/so hard. yuck) and i still went out and did things on the weekend i was at my parents, as you can see from the last 2 posts. but today, i'm still nursing a dry throat and a dry, long drawn out cough. i would feel bad coughing and sniffling in class, but i'm definitely not the only one!

hopefully tomorrow will be a little better with it being friday and all...

apple orchards...

sunday morning before thanksgiving dinner, me and dylan went apple picking. it had been 2 or 3 years since the last time we went and we were both looking forward to it. it as a beautiful day ( i think it hit 20 or 22 degrees) and we picked a bunch of yummy apples (red and golden delicious, which happen to be favorite anyways!); 11.4 pounds to be exact!

 they had a few pumpkins too, although we didn't pick one up

dylan has a big head, or maybe i'm just small. but this always happens in pictures and we get a good laugh (plus, he always closer to the camera, which doesn't help haha)

after we were done, we went into the store/bakery on site. we picked up a fresh, warm apple pie for thanksgiving dinner later in the day at my parents house. oh, and we also got a pumpkin scone and a pumpkin cheesecake square to split. both yummy. the apples that we picked are so freakin good too. i've been eating about 3 a day and my pile which i thought was huge is quickly getting smaller and smaller. damn!
