southern ontario was hit pretty hard with an ice storm this weekend. it actually cancelled both family get-togethers on friday and saturday night, unfortunately. the roads became sheets of ice and trees became coated with thick ice. sometime in the middle of the night on saturday, we lost power and it didn't go back on until about 8:30am. others weren't so lucky and had power out much longer, some still without it. when we had to take a quick drive to the grocery store, nearly every tree was broken from the weight. that said, because of all this, we were able to just bunker down at my parents and watch a few christmas movies.
and while this ice storm was absolutely beautiful, it definitely didn't help the last minute shoppers, with the bad roads, blackouts and even a few malls closing midday.

my husband went to longos on the way back from the gym and he said as soon as the doors opened, it was a scene straight out of World War Z - EVERYONE was going crazy and at first he thought that they were giving food away; it was THAT insane. line ups, people running around with a pile of food in their arms and shouting every where, shelves empty and stuff scattered all over the floor. he half expected to see zombies roaming around too LOL.
we have been lucky in that we haven't had any outages yet but our lights did flicker on and off last night. my inlaws just got their power back on and inside their house, it was 10C!
stay safe and warm!
