lazy weekend...

we tried to keep this a low-key weekend, and i would say we accomplished this, especially sunday. on saturday afternoon, we took a gander around yorkdale mall to pick up a birthday gift for a friend we were seeing later that night. while there, we took a stop in birks (think the tiffany of canada) and sat with someone for almost an hour learning about diamonds and educating ourselves. you know, for when the time comes ;). the best part was getting to try on the beautiful engagement rings and looking through the microscope to see how different diamonds vary (hard to do with an untrained eye), and seeing what a different a 'd' and 'h' color makes, for example. i tried on a beautiful 1 carat halo with a price tag of $15,000 (*bug eyes*) and then another 0.9 carat solitaire with a whopping $30,000 price tag because the diamond was flawless. so, needless to say, it was a fun afternoon.

later that evening, we met with friends to see a comedy show, and while it wasn't nearly as funny as the first time we went, we still enjoyed a good evening. it ended with poutine, which is never a bad thing.

as for sunday, i barely moved from the couch the entire day, with the exception of a quick walk to the grocery store. of course, i didn't know we were out of an ingredient i was expecting we had (garlic) and you simply can't make a dish without garlic. i was far too lazy to go back out, so that dinner was postponed until tonight.

but you know, sometimes  a day that's 85% spent on the couch is needed to recharge for the week ahead.

everyone needs lazy weekends to recharge!

also, never EVER go to a retail store to buy diamonds...their markup is like, 150% no joke. there are a lot of places in toronto where you can get an amazing quality stone and a custom setting for way less than that. when you guys are ready, let me know and i'll give you a few names.
