the missing engagement ring...

a long time ago (this has been sitting in my draft for a while), i asked a question on twitter, but i thought i would ask it here too. it's certainly nothing deep and philosophical. it has to do with engagement rings. i noticed when looking at pictures on facebook, that a few of my engaged friends didn't have their engagement rings on in pictures when they were going out with friends/ at a bachelorette party. (note: i guess i'm really nosy to notice this); i noticed this on more than 1 girl.

a few pictures were at a hotel drinking before going out. so i suppose they could have put the ring on after the pictures, and before leaving. but there were others where they were out without it. this struck me as weird, to be honest. i asked on twitter, 'do girls want to appear single?' 'are they afraid of losing it?' what gives? i mean, once i get my ring, i'm not planning on taking it off!! unless i'm in the shower, in a pool, or on a beach or something, i'm pretty sure that ring will be glued to my ringer. just because i'm going out with my girl friends does not mean that thing will stay at home.

thoughts on this?

and just because, what's a post about engagement rings without a pretty wedding picture?

I agree with you. Once I get my ring, it will only come off if I'm in the shower, pool or if my hands are submerged in anything. Even if I go out, I don't want anyone hitting on me, so my ring will be right there for the world to see. :)

I think some girls are afraid of going out and losing it. My best friend just got engaged and his fiance leaves her ring at home if she's out and about like that cause it's a little too big for her finger, so, until they get around to having it re-sized at least, she takes it off before going out. But I do agree with you, I would never want to take mine off, and would wear it like a badge to keep the creepy bar guys away from me! Lol.

Did THE Dylan comment on this post?

I 100% agree with you on this. My co-worker is engaged, and she forgets to wear her ring all the time... And it boggles my mind just because I feel like that ring is going to be something that I can't leave the house without, like my keys. Ya know?

Ever since the day I put it on my finger I've never taken it off except when I'm kneading dough or rolling a very wet cookie dough in my hands. That's it. There's no reason for it - it's built to withstand anything (even showers). That's why you buy a nice little cleaner for it. BTW I only clean mine once a year at the county fair for free at one of the "test me" stations hahaha.

I saw the first comment and smiled. Not a lot of my friends have gotten engaged yet (so thank goodness there's not too much pressure to get married yet lol) but I agree - I'd want to keep that ring on unless it's somewhere like the beach or if I'm cooking. The only person I knew who didn't wear hers all the time is because she always lost jewelry and so she eventually decided to wear it as a necklace around her neck!
