st. lawrence market...

while me and dylan have often gone to the st lawrence market on sundays for the antiques, we've never gone into the actual market across the street. a couple weeks ago, when my mom was in toronto, we decided to check it out.
a rather cool painting on the building
flatiron building (real name: gooderham building)
market housing all the delicious foods
i want it all
 i love corn
and my babe for the heck of it

we actually loved the market. pretty sure we could have gone crazy and bought a crap tonne of food!! cheeses, breads, homemade mustards, desserts, fruit, olive bars filled with stuffed everything (!!)..oh my. we ended up eating lunch at a little ukranian kitchen downstairs. it was a little 'shop' where they had their stove and oven and 2 older ladies and 1 man were cooking away. i wanted absolutely everything. meat lasagna (which i got and was hands down the best lasagna i have ever had in my life), veggie lasagna, chicken schnitzel (which i also wanted so bad), cabbage rolls (those i don't eat), dessert and savory crepes, potato latkes, perogies, dessert perogies, stuffed eggplant...and the list went on. all.home.made. it was the hardest decision every to decide what we wanted.

the only answer is to go back many times, and order something different every time ;)

your ass is a little bony...

in the past week, i have managed to watch 4 movies. i'm not generally a big watch-a-movie-by-yourself type person, so that's a lot. most were my first time seeing them. but, that's what happens when 3 of your girl friends are in italy and croatia, another is in nyc, and dylan is on a 10 day field trip for school (but, it counts as a full credit, so that's awesome).

so what did i watch?
-friends with benefits: i liked this one. it definitely made me laugh out loud and was one of the better comedies i've seen lately. unlike bridesmaids and horrible bosses, which i know i'm totally in the minority about.
-rumor has it: the one with anniston and mark ruffalo (adorable). it was decent. it was sitting on my shelf and i had no idea what it was about, so therefore i watched it. not great, no bad. it kept me occupied for 2 hours.
-the last song: i liked this one. again, had no idea what it was about. liam is pretty cute, but miley still bugs the crap outta me. also, SPOILER, i was totally not expecting the dad plot. whoa sad!!
-black swan: this one was the only one i had seen before. nothing to really say about it, other than i love it. i love darren aronofsky, the director. i think he rocks. he also directed requiem for a dream which is one of my all time favorite movies. i picked up during black swan that it was filmed really similarly to requiem, without even knowing it was the same director. he definitely has a particular style.

hot chocolate, a book, and a webcam.

yes, i also spent the days reading. as i suspected, the book is quite funny. so, since i seem to be on a roll, any other movies i should see?

how to cool off on a hot day...

-going swimming would have been nice, but no such luck
-wear as little clothing as socially acceptable
-get 7/11 slurpees (i have probably had 1 my entire life. is that weird? this makes 2!)
and 5cent candy! i didn't even know that existed anymore! but, remember penny candy? that was better.
mm how refreshing
just hanging around, slurping our slurpees

-this was back like, 2 weekends ago when it was a disgustingly hot 35 or so degrees. this weekend, i will happily say, did not require slurpees to cool down.

i make shopping fun...

dylan loves to go shopping with me..
i played with the shake weight; that thing is ridiculous and i felt ridiculous doing it. but my arm did hurt after i was done. you know what it resembles when you're shakin' it, right? dylan also took a video of me using it, but he said some thing not appropriate for the blog. i'll leave it at that.
i got my tennis on. i'm ready to go pro any day now.
i wear massive glasses while dylan shops for a new school bag.

seriously, how it ready friday again? not complaining, but the weeks are going faster and faster. so far, today seems like kind of a gloomy day, and after the day i had yesterday, i just want to lay in bed and read the book i just started-'the year of living biblically' by A.J. Jacobs. i'm pretty sure it's going to be hilarious and ridiculous.

so, who else plays around while shopping and then takes pictures of themselves??

by the pier...

coffee looking out on the pier is always nice.

we sat a table right beside the boats and enjoyed a coffee on an extremely windy day at williams coffee.
(they also make one of the best pumpkin spice lattes come time!)

a day by the water...

a few times a year, i usually end up at niagara on the lake. a little while ago, me and my mom packed up a picnic lunch, books, and chairs, along with chloe and hit the road. we walked along the strip of stores for the first hour, then we parked our butts by the water and ate and read for the rest of the afternoon.

isn't that water lovely? all brown and such.

'just chritmas' store. i die every time i go in. it's love.

i zoomed in as far as i could to make sure; nothing is falling out of my top ;)

love that tongue of hers.

and an (extremely) shaky video from the day filmed on my iphone. i was just walking holding it without looking, and apparently i don't walk very smoothly ;)

storm watch...

yesterday, we got hit with quite the storm! leaving my parents place, it was sunny as could be. i fell asleep in the car while heading back to toronto (of course, because i'm like a baby and the car puts me to sleep in 0.5 seconds and i love it) and woke up when it started to get dark. things quickly took a turn for the worse...
1) we were still in the sun and could see the darkness ahead 2) uh oh, we're getting closer 3) and shit, we've hit it

it was coming down SO hard, it was crazy. we could barely see in front of us. as we were getting closer to my place, it really slowed down, and then the thunder and lightning started. soon enough, the sun was out and you would've never known it rained.
my mom told me to take a video, so i did. she narrates part of it ha. she also says 'lightling' because that's how she said it when i was a kid.

ps. it got chilly out (about 16 celsius, 60 fahrenheit for those who always forget we canadians use celsius lol), even with a sweater on, and i loved it!

five guys...

i've heard so much about this damn burger chain from you american bloggers. we recently got one near by and we couldn't wait to try it! we happened to be out with dylan's brother and we had an hour to waste before picking up a friend, so i had the bright idea to go get lunch.

i thoroughly enjoyed taking peanuts on the way out. it *kind of* made up for it being expensive (no, not really)

ok, it was decent and all. and dang, it's expensive. no? his brother actually paid, which was great. i got a baby burger, they each got a regular burger, then 2 pops, and 2 regular fries. it came to $35. that seems like an awful lot. i was in shock when that total came up. sure you get a lot of fries, but it's almost wasteful how much you actually get. my overall thoughts on it? meh, i won't be in a hurry to get back. i think i need to try in-n-out; i hear that's pretty good, too.

you may now kiss the bride...

i suppose i'll start with the church part of the wedding i went to with my family on saturday. all week it was calling for rain, but luckily, it ended up holding up and if it did rain, it wasn't until much later in the night when everyone was in the reception. and even then, i don't think it did.
 our little fam (quite sunny)
looks like the paparazzi caught us
aren't their backs lovely?! lol i don't want to post pictures of other people (since, once again, no one knows about this blog)
sneaky mom caught this of me and dylan
we are one cool lookin' family

she looked beautiful and now they're finally married. with the year to plan the wedding included, they dated for 10 years!!! (note to dyan: i do not want to date 10 years. that's 5 more to go..too long!) surprisingly, i didn't cry! not sure why, but i was able to hold it together. (ps. i normally don't cry at anything. my parents say i have a heart of stone because nothing gets to me lol except animals. but in the past year or 2, i have become a total sap for anything wedding related; mostly proposals and watching people say 'i do' and watching the groom watch the bride walking down the aisle.)

i could really go into my thoughts (and dylans) about the church ceremony, and the words that were said, but i guess i shouldn't. i don't want to start a war! lets just say, there is very little, if anything, i agree with.

dress: Jacob (on sale for $40)
shoes: Walmart ($15!)

i do...

this weekend, i get to dress up, eat like a queen, drink for free and dance the night away. why? tomorrow is my cousins wedding. it'll be the 3rd wedding me and dylan have gone to together in our (almost) 5 years together (all family weddings thus far) and he's even picked up a snazzy new suit. even though the seating isn't ideal (it's a family wedding, and i'm not sitting with my parents, or other family..um what?), i'm hoping it will still be good. luckily dylan is a talker and can make conversation with anyone/about anything.
 2009 wedding
he looks young. i think it's the shorter hair and no scruff. we like the scruff. no more bare faces allowed!

happy friday!

i need you so much closer...

oh death cab. how i love thee. as i mentioned, this was our second time seeing them, and we must have seen before i started blogging, because i can't for the life of me find a post. anyways, they are amazing and we love them, and we'll probably see them again :)
seats were still being filled as the opening band 'frightened rabbit' played
neither of us had heard of them, but they were really quite good. and from scotland!
obviously we're having a way better time than the straight laced guy behind us
unfortunately, as you can see, they came on when it was dark and my little canon powershot just can't manage in the dark. too bad.
and another shot when we were walking home

and a video i put together of clips of 10 or so songs. the audio is good, but the quality of video is less than stellar. and it's choppy from me cutting it to put together. it's also long. i couldn't pick and choose. ;) (you can also hear dylan talking to me a few times in the video)

a couple things:
-the concert started right on time. the first band went on right at 8. they were done by their scheduled time and death cab went on at their scheduled time as well. much appreciated.
-they came back for an encore. and they didn't disappoint. 4 songs! and they ended with transatlantacism. which is probably my favorite song. yay.
-i think our seats were better than they appeared. my camera just kind of sucks. and we were exactly centre, which was great.
-i yelled to dylan during the concert, "he's married to zooey deschanel eh" "who's that?" "the girl from 500 days of summer!" "OH! she's like the perfect woman!"
-they're just really awesome.
