24th birthday celebrations...

friday night involved cupcakes, vodka 7's, friends, way too much food, 2 tequila shots and a lemon drop shot (did i mention i don't do shots?!), a way too crowded bar, happy birthdays, and good times.

there were no pictures taken at the bar. it was just too crowded and what not. but really, i can't believe we're all turning 24. i have known this girl since we were 2-we met in gymnastics and then ended up going to school together from grade school to high school to college then different universities. 

and this is us in 1993. running from boys. *note that i still have those purple shorts. and sometimes i still wear them to bed* i'm the cutie in the flower shirt ;)

awkward and awesome...

awkward:
-taking the dog out in my pajamas every morning 30 seconds after getting out of bed (for her pee) and seeing a group of construction guys next door.
-almost passing out after my blood work; what can i say? i'm a fainter...
-falling down the stairs because of the damn cat! i was fine
-watching family videos with the fam + dylan of when i went through my chubby stage.
-going to the mall immediately after dinner and trying clothes on


awesome:
-the fact that i'm still on reading week :) though it's over to quick
-having proper delicious dinners every night while i'm home at my parents
-my mom always has dessert
-we got more snow
-my bff's 24th birthday tomorrow!
-booking another trip to NYC with dyl
-the fact that our return bus trip is $13 total each (more on that later!)
-winning a free coffee with roll up the rim at tim hortons on my second coffee. last year, i don't think i won once in, like, 20.

friday, me, dyl and my parents went out to eat at this place called Memphis Fire BBQ (looks like they don't have a site). it's meant to be like a 50's, 60's style, southern USA type food and atmosphere. boy was it good.

1. mom's buttermilk chicken and biscuit. 5 huge pieces of chicken!! so, so good. total americanized portions haha

2. mine, burger and mac & cheese. also delish

3. dad's burger stuffed with cheese and coney fries-chili, cheese, onion, some type of smoked soft cheese. to die.

4. dylans pulled pork, beans and mashed potatoes.

we were all beyond stuffed when we left. we wish we had room for all their homemade desserts and milkshakes. don't worry, we'll be back ;)

thank yous and belated v-day...

**thank you for the comments regarding this post and my fear of the doctor and sending good vibes. she figures it's stress and this is my bodies way of reacting to it. with the stress i had of 3 midterms in 2 days, the overall stress of how hard/how much work this semester is, graduation, big changes, finding a job, paying off loans etc..it's just all overwhelming. i'm just waiting for the results of the blood test, but she certain it's nothing serious and i'm A OK. but, i did buy a beginners yoga dvd that i'm going to start doing to help me relax a bit.

**and thank you again for all the love about putting our dog down. they are 100% family and it s.u.c.k.s.


anyways, since i wasn't home for valentines day, i just my presents from my parents on the weekend. yep, i get valentines day gifts :)

nikon d3100 for dummies..this will be very useful for me! and that popcorn in the front-that's caramel popcorn covered in white chocolate. it is absolutely ah-mazing!! it lasted me a day :)

basically, i've still been too busy to learn to use my camera (hence the stress!), but eventually i'll find the time...hopefully by fiddling around with it and using this book, i'll understand it soon enough :)

we knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier.

confession...

i hate doctors. 

like really hate.

ok, not doctors them self, but the idea of going to the dr.

i avoid it like the plague.

i would rather not know something is wrong. 

it scares me to death.

if i'm not feeling good, i let it pass.

it takes a lot to get myself there and admit that something isn't right.

(which luckily, the last big thing was 2 years ago).

which wasn't even that big i should say, i had mono, which was misdiagnosed and turned into a way bigger problem than it needed to be.

anyways, the last little while, my head has been feeling really weird.

not headache pounding, not stuffy from sinuses or the flu..i really don't know what.

so this morning at 9:30, i have an appt with my dr.

i don't even know if i'll be able to describe to her what i'm feeling, but hopefully she'll understand something.

i'm hoping she sends me for a bloodtest or something.

anyways, my mind goes to, like, the worst possible diagnosis..so...

city hall at night from 25th floor. after hanging out with my friend for the day friday, we went back to her hotel with her mom, went out for dinner, and then just hung out for a bit. relaxing and perfect.

saw this idea on the internet, tried to do it to dylans cup, but he poured it into a mug too fast. so i did it to mine, and told him the barista must have thought i was cute. his expression was priceless haha

valentines day...

happy valentines day people!

we were pretty low key this year (well, we are every year), so much so that we didn't even wrap each others gifts! ha. so lazy. and i didn't even have an envelope for the card i got him (when i bought it, i forgot to pic up the envelope. doh)

starbucks bag totally counts as wrapped, no? he loves big mugs, so it's a mug you can write on with a white marker, then bake it and it stays on.. forever!

'love me or i'll kill you'--such a thoughtful gift!!  haha (and it appears i lose my upper lip sometimes when i smile)

we made some crazy 7 layer mexican tortilla pie for dinner last night (recipe here; so good!) and we studied lots. now he's going soon and i have to continue to study for 3 midterms.

ah, the weekend...

happy friday morning!

so yesterday were my grad pics. i got my hair blown out-that was fabulous. wish i could do it more ;)
the pictures were awkward and they pose you in the most horrid ways. ugh we'll see the results in 2-3 weeks.

today my girl friend is coming up (well i wrote this last night, so she's likely here already, as she was planning on 8am-and no my friends don't normally pop over so early haha, her mom is going to a conference all day, so she's just coming along), so we'll probably get some lunch and i still have to get dylan something small for valentines day!
then on saturday night, dylan is coming up so we get to spend sunday together in lieu of actual valentines day on monday. maybe grab a red velvet cupcake together?? :)
but really, i have 3 midterms next week; 2 on tuesday and one wednesday. this coming week is the week i have been dreading since the beginning of the semester. so we have to spend most of our days studying. wonderful!
the light at the end of the tunnel? the following week is reading week!

-i thought HTML (coding) meant hotmail

-i didn't bring a bra home this weekend; i'm all about bandeau's and lace things with no padding or underwire (hardly constituted as a bra)-tmi? luckily i found one tucked away at my parents...

-i was on my phone the whole class last night. some profs just can't teach and i only go for the attendance

-i was excited to get home from class last night for a toaster strudel. my mom threw a box in my groceries and it was a great surprise. hadn't had one in forever!

-i am beyond deathly afraid of butterflies yet i have a tiny butterfly tattoo. it made sense at 18. (that being said, i don't regret it)

-all of my 'so whats' have at least one thing about food. and usually not healthy food

-if i eat a lot of apples a day (there, i just made up for it), and each apple is about 15g of sugar, and 15g of sugar is all you're supposed to have ALL day. learned that last week. i don't like that.

blizzards, cake, and..snooki?

out of no where on saturday, this crazy blizzard popped up! huge massive flakes falling so fast and accumulating like crazy. loved it.

i ate delicious batter. also love it.

which turned into delicious coffee cake that my mom made. triple love it.

my sunday night snack and root beer. these pretzel pieces are so addictive. i wish my stomach could handle eating a whole bag in one night.

and then i found out that my phone is apparently a fan of snooki...hmmm do i really type her name that often?? i really don't think i do..

the bad, the good and the better...

first off, i'll tell you what i didn't do this weekend; watch the super bowl-no thanks.

dylan had been house sitting all week, so on friday i went over with my friend diana [we're a trio ;)] and we watched a couple hours of a criminal minds marathon. we all love that show. we had some chips, nachos and cheese and it was a good night.

saturday we got this crazy random blizzard and i wasn't planning on doing anything but homework all day/night, but i ended up going out with  my girl friends and dylan went to play poker. it's not that i plan on doing work at 11pm or anything, but my next day is really ruined when i got in at 4am the night before haha so i really debated whether to go or not.

buuut, i ended up going. the bad? the coat check ran out of hangers i guess and it was full! what gives? so i had to carry my damn coat around the bar the whole night. everyone else put them in a corner and left them, but i definitely wasn't leaving an expensive winter coat unattended. why did i wear an expensive coat? because it was a blizzard when we left and i wasn't about to stand in line with a flimsy coat. lose-lose situation.
the good? i spend $4 to get in, a friend bought me a drink, then i bought one myself. total-$9.50
the really good? i found $10 in the snow as we were leaving.

 twins! nope, they totally didn't plan that. they work together, both finished at 10:30, changed at work, and happened to wear almost identical outfits! (fyi, it's an excellent way to get guys to talk to you haha)

 don't worry, totally not a creeper in the back; it's dylans roommate, i just don't have long enough arms :P

also, the cabbie was hilarious. apparently he 'loves chinese girls' and as the girl in the front (the one on the left in the first picture) got out, he yelled "I LOVE YOU!" it was a little weird, but funny nonetheless.

and of course, i got in at 3:30am and was up by 8am. couldn't tell ya why. but it happened to be my most productive day of the weekend. hmm...(i think it's because i had no choice!)

my attempt at waking myself up before class since i got at 6am for no reason-even though i know coffee has no effect on me whatsoever (and actually, i finished it at 8pm, and i had the best sleep ever, hittin' the sac around 10:30pm)

so my mom is coming today around 1:30ish to pick me up for the weekend (i've got my hair appt tomorrow, weee). we're going to stay a bit before heading back, probably walk around a bit if she's not too cold ;)

-if i've been hoping for a huge, massive, heavy-hitting-24-hour-pounding snow storm while everyone else is hexing it like the plague
-if i've had mr. noodles for dinner once or twice this week. sometimes i just feel like it and satisfies my craving
-if i got dylans valentines day card and the next day when i went to sign it, i realized i forgot to pick up the envelope
-if i've lived in my place for 3+ years and i just found out on sunday that i get E! channel! that was so exciting.
-if i'm getting my hair done on friday even though it was colored just over a month ago. i've got grad pics in 2 weeks and i don't want roots (i normally wait 3-4 months!)
-if me and dylan watched what not to wear last night in our seperate places & texted about it the whole hour. long distance date! (did anyone else see it? the blonde crazy lookin' thing? whoa. but she actually looked good at the end. you knew she would underneath it all)

also, i've got a bone to pick (not surprising this week)...we did not get the snow that was expected..there was snow warning and severe snow alerts all week for today..we got a bit, but not the 20-30cm predicted...well the news says we did, but i don't know what part of toronto it fell on..not where i am.
and-every school in the GTA (greater toronto area) is closed. my boyfriends, my friends, my old college, everything, except the campus i go to!!! my school has 3 campuses and 2 of them are closed, but not mine! arghhhh either way, i'm taking a self-proclaimed snow day for my 2pm class, but i have to go to my night class to hand in a stupid paper, otherwise i wouldn't be going to that either....not happy!!
