the halloween that didn't happen...

my halloween was a dud. ie it didn't happen. *insert sad and angry face* saturday afternoon i was out with my mom running a few errands and i started to feel crampy (girls, you know why), but i thought it was way too early for that. then we got to my grandma and grandpa's and it was getting worse. i was rocking away in the rocking chair and it was still there. well, of course i got *it* (tmi?) and the gut wrenching cramps that come along with it every month. i knew pretty much right away that i wouldn't be in any shape to go to a party that night. i was piiiissseddd. i mean, i live for halloween and dressing up.

i guess i may as well say what i was going to be. you saw the main components of my costume here and there wasn't very much to it. well, i was going to be one of dexter's victims. i was going to make myself a cling wrap mini dress with blood in the middle of the cling wrap between my boob-ish area and have a knife sticking out of me (that's where he stabs them). and dylan was going to be dexter. we were all set to be awesome. luckily, my 'costume' cost me all of $8 (for a nude pair of underwear, which i can obviously now wear, so really i spent nothing) because i had the cling wrap and blood. and dylan was able to return the few things he bought.

we ended up hanging out at his place, eating chips and lemon pies with warm pudding (they're to die for and from that show recipe to riches and now selling in grocery stores) and watching DEXTER! how convenient. dylan had a few episodes to get caught up on from this season.
waiting in the car for dylan to finish work. blowing jealous kisses to all those in their skimpy costumes getting ready to party. (i wasn't bitter at all haha)
we picked up some books for our anniversary getaway in less than 3 weeks :)
next day  breakfast at a 50's diner.

 :)
wasting time before the mall opened. i mean, you couldn't get a worse picture, but whatever.
 much happier the next day.
scarf power.

anyways, HAPPY HALLOWEEN folks. chloe will put on her little bumble bee costume from last year for every walk she goes on today :) and also i'll be taking her out tonight after dinner while all the kiddies are out trick-or-treating. i can't let halloween completely pass me by!

a whole lotta sexy...

the other night, i decided to take a look at the search words that lead to my blog. most of them are normal and i can think of exactly which post it leads to. but now that halloween is nearing, there's a whole group of terms that can be generalized by 1 word: sexy. now i'm not calling myself sexy, but that's basically how every search term started.

things start off good and fine with girly pumpkin carving, carve a girly pumpkin, and terran eagle pumpkin. but then they take a turn: sexy secretaries, sexy secretary, slit neck, (sarah silverman feet (?!?! just throwing that one in there), heels and booty shorts, sexiest halloween costumes for women ever, sexy halloween costumes, sexy cat, and skanky halloween costumes.

i wonder if i was of any service to these people searching for these things? i had a good laugh anyways. i'm assuming most of the searches lead to this post. and the pumpkin searches would have likely lead to this post.
and this is basically my costume for this year. sooo, yeah.

maybe people aren't too far off with their searches? haha

and i'm also joining this...

in the hopes of meeting some new people and getting some recipes or halloween ideas!

have an awesome halloween weekend (& be safe!) :)
can't wait to see all the posts come next week!!

mad libs...

remember mad libs? i used to love doing those. well, i saw one on glamour and figured i would give it a go.
here are the list of words to fill out-
1. tv show
2. crush’s name
3. adjective
4. same person as #2
5. plural body part
6. adverb
7. color
8. adjective
9. brand of shoes, plural (i.e. vans, jimmy choos, keds, etc)
10. animal
11. superhero
12. body part (singular)
13. beverage
14. musician or band
15. number

now, here's how mine turned out...

you planned to celebrate october 31st by staying in and watching the criminal minds marathon, but then matthew gray gubler invited you to his best friend’s famously fancy halloween party. matthew has legs that make you swoon, so could you refuse?
you quickly rifle through your closet looking for outfits that you can pass off as a costume. When you come across your black scarf, colorful leggings and your favorite pair of converse, you realize you’ve got it! you’ll head to the part dressed as a sexy penguin!

But when he arrives to pick you up in a revealing wonder woman costume, you know immediately you two are staying in for the night. You coyly grab him by the nose and head into the kitchen where you seductively pour 2 glasses of vodka 7. you both head to the bedroom, put on your favourite john mayer cd, and you guys go at it for the next 7 minutes.

trick or treat!

well hot damn. i'm a sexy penguin!? and a man dressed as wonder woman? no wonder i knew we were staying in for the night! and 7 whole minutes? oww oww ;)

oh, just me and my bf at a halloween party last year ;)

do i have ghosts following me?

about 2 months when dylan was over, he was sitting on my couch watching tv/on my computer and i was in the kitchen making something. all of a sudden i heard something fall and i thought he dropped my laptop. admittedly, i was about to lose it! i asked him what it was, and he said my paper weight fell off the top of my tv. i called bullsh*t and said there's no way something heavy just falls off a flat surface. but he swore that's what happened. ok, fine. weird, but fine.

and now it's happened again. thursday night after dinner, dylan was taking a nap in my room and i was in my living room on my computer (sitting on my couch across from my tv) and all of a sudden it flew off again!! wtf!!! now it didn't just fall down and land right below the tv. it landed 6 footsteps across. lets see some diagrams...
yeah, see that bad boy right there. it's not exactly light. or on the edge.
ok, so it's circled at the top, and the red X shows how it did not fall. look where it landed!! it also did not bounce/roll to that spot once it fell. i saw it from the corner of my eye when it flew off.

what is the deal here?? the first time it happened, i told my mom and she said it was my grandpa (who passed away about 14 years ago) telling dylan it's time to get engaged! ahhaahh the 'diamond' paper weight is actually from dylan, too. i told my mom this time too, and she said it's my grandpa again. i personally don't believe in that stuff, but whatever floats your boat. i really don't know what's happening.

another thing: in the summer, i was at my parents place and all 3 of us were upstairs. i was standing in my doorway talking to my parents and then i heard something fall. i looked back, and the highlighter that was on my desk (across the room) was now in the middle of my room. no windows were open. nothing.

is something following me??? i don't like it!! has anything weird like this ever happened to any of you?

stop this train...

we're a little unconventional around here; our date nights can't always fall on a friday or saturday, we don't watch your typical 'date night' movie, and we maybe enjoy weird things a little too much. that being said, on thursday dylan came up around noon and we spent the day together before he left the next morning at 8:30.

as you know, we planned our little anniversary getaway, did some groceries, i made our favorite soup ever (this one), watched a hilarious comedy show on netflix, the old man had a 45 minute nap, and then we watched the human centipede. to be honest, since it came out last year, i've wanted to see it. i was expecting some uber gross, vomit-inducing movie. but no. it was terrible (i mean, not that i was actually expecting it to be good), but the acting was bad, the way it was made wasn't great, and it certainly wasn't gross like i was expecting. maybe i just have a high tolerance for really weird crap? anyways, don't waste your time with that one, though i'm sure it's not on most people's 'must see' list.
pre dinner snack-delicious pumpkin scones with cream cheese from cobs.
wine, zinfandel, rose, something along those lines. i`m not really sure.
 cheers!
a terrible picture, but the 3 of us nonetheless.
 cheeeesseeeee
dinner is served. cut the bread? psshhh we just ripped it apart.

and then we sat on the couch with full bellies, watched the jersey shore finale (head hung in shame), and ate more; chips and dip.

une petite escapade...

since once again, we can't make it to nyc during december due to silly work, and dylan's classes (of all the times i've been to my favorite city, i've yet to see the christmas magic. ie go in december)-grumble, grumble, curse, curse-we decided to stay within our own country and head to old quebec city. we turned it into an anniversary trip, which works out perfectly because our anniversary falls on a weekend, and that's the weekend we're going. i cannot believe it's going to be 5 years next month! wow.

we just booked it yesterday, and while we're only going for one night, i'm still ridiculously excited. we're renting a car (our first actual ROADTRIP!) and i'm pretty gung-ho about leaving between 4am-5am. i may be crazy, but it's about a 9hour drive and i don't to get there at dinnertime, go to bed, and then have to leave mid afternoon the next day.

unfortunately, the christmas stuff doesn't start until the first week of december. womp womp. maybe, just maybe, stores will have their lights up and on at night? that would be awesome. a little bit of snow on the ground would be even better. can you tell i'm just dying to be in a winter wonderland at some point, somewhere!?!

anyways, i have high hopes for old quebec. cobblestone streets, old buildings, and lots of french speakers. looks like i better brush up on my french (hahahha what a joke; we had to take it throughout some of grade school, and then high scool and i can say exactly 3 phrases). actually, that's what my bilingual boyfriend is for ;)
this is what i want to see. snow. trees. although maybe the trees are a year-round thing?via.
and lights. lots of lights. via.
via.

yesterday was our 4 year,11month anniversary ;) (iloveyou!)
let the countdown begin--29 days!

oh, happy weekend!

getting fashion-y in here...

to spice up my new purple pants, i'm trying out different combinations of colors, so it doesn't always have to be just a black shirt, or black sweater.

easiest way? add a pop of color with my red scarf! and a jean jacket, and black boots, and a grey shirt. whoa. i actually quite liked this for a casual fall look. the scarf is sooo toasty and i'm pretty obsessed with it. even better that it was free. and yes, once again the pants look blue.

i'm such a fashion blogger now.
*sarcasm*

sparkly spiders and pumpkins, oh my...

so i'm not really a big halloween decorator. in fact, i have all of 2 pieces i put out.
a shiny spider. super scary.
this is also super scary looking. not. i like to keep the freaky stuff for my costume.

but christmas? that's a different story. i decorate the shit out of christmas!

(and no, this broke, up to her neck in debt girl did not purchase $700 louboutin's. you can read about that here)

halloween scream...

halloween is quickly approaching and while i'm normally way ahead of the game, this year i just don't know what to do. i started thinking of costumes way back in july/august, but have since thrown those ideas out the window. i had plenty of time to come up with a grand idea, and now all of a sudden i have a mere 2 weeks. where does the time go? i'll likely be working till 730ish and then have to go back home to my parents (an hour away), so i need something fairly quick and easy. must put my mind to work.

previous years i've been a cat, a sexy secretary (oh common, everyone has been a sexy somethingoranother at one point in time), a 50's housewife, a so you think you can dance contestant and a dead bride. you can see the post where i did a recap of them all here. (i noticed that post has been the most popular the last few days, so might as well give the people what they want and talk about halloween!)

but i have to say, my favorite was dressing up as a dead bride. i've never been anything dead or bloody before, so i got quite a thrill from it. i'm a little weird. whatever.

1) while i loved my teased curled hair, it was an absolute nightmare to wash out.
2) we won best costume ;) $100
3) the dress cost me $40 at a thrift store and fit like a glove. i cut up the bottom and rubbed dirt on to make it look like i came from a grave. (full post with more pictures here)

anyone know what they're doing yet?? or have any ideas for me, maybe??

apple picking we will go...

saturday morning, we really did leave the house at 7:30am to go apple picking. we love to go every year and if we have to be out of the house at that godforsaken hour, then so be it! $1 a pound is a really good price, but some people just don't realize how much apples weigh, and end up getting a lot (ahem, dylan).
early morning fog in the country.
one person is happier than the other in the morning. guess who?
 fall colors perfection.

sun beaming down and picking away.
 right off the tree.
 that's not enough apples..

37lbs of apples between the 2 of us. yes, 37 (25 for him, 12 for me).
pumpkins, hay, and scarecrows-fall.

phew, that was a lot of pictures. i'll be eating apples for a while. but that's ok. they're my favorite fruit. and once again, we proved that we're about 60, given the fact that it was us and  3 other people (all 60+)  picking apples that early in the AM.
