-while shopping with my mom, she picked up a pair of shoes for herself and said "what do you think of these?" and i, without thinking, said loudly, "those are so italian!" my mom turns to the lady beside us and says, "i hope you're not italian!" she said she was. oops. then my mom told her i am too. foot.in.mouth. i was honestly like a little 3 year old with no filter who just spits stuff out. we had a good laugh. turns out the brand name of the shoe? "italian" so i was clearly right on point! i just meant they were for little old italian ladies...oy.
-dylan is coming for a visit today for 2 days. he wants to do a 'photoshoot' with a friend who's into photography. the 2 of them with cameras at me... you have no idea how awkward i am in front of a camera. point and shoot, smile with your friends? a-ok. pose and try and look good? not ok. and when i said it was going to rain? even better they say. boys...
-getting asked my phone number in the park. chloe is a boy magnet. forget milkshakes, i got chloe ;)

-we're going to see death cab for cutie tomorrow night!! woohoo. we saw then 2 years ago and they were awesome.
-big brother. one of the many reality shows i love. ps. jeff, i love ya.
-a nice fresh cut and color, and the awesome head massage that comes along with it.
-not biting my nails for over a week and actually having white tips. this is big people. why is it such a nasty habit to break??

she's a floating head. no worries, it looks like i was grabbin' her tightly, but i wasn't.

bachelorette boredom...

who is bored with the bachelorette this season? i know i am. now, i will never miss an episode. and if i do, you better believe i will be watching it online the next day. however, about 45 minutes in, i always start to lose interest. and after 9pm, it's like pulling teeth to get through the rest of that episode. and i can't really pin point why. i didn't really care for her when she was on the bachelor, but there was no particular reason. even with all the bentley drama, it has still failed. here's a few bullet points...

-like many others, i had no idea ben and constantine were 2 different people. i still can't tell them apart-looks wise and personality.
-this week, she said to constantine, "you've never been on a helicopter!?" she was flabbergasted! you would think he said he's never driven in a car the way she reacted.
-she's pissed that constantine can't say he loves her after like, 4 or 5 weeks? is she for real?
-she opened the fantasy suite card after he left, as if she had no idea what it was going to say...
-fantasy suite. sex. fantasy suite. sex. how many of them do you think get down to business?? i'm so curious. first of all, they've known each other a hot minute (but, no judgment!) but what if it was 3 for 3? 3 in 3 nights?? ehhh a little gross...

if you follow me on twitter, you pretty much know these thoughts. i tweet too much during the show, and maybe too  much in general? either way, you'll be happy to know it's over next week. thank god. i already know the ending, thanks to reality steve. i always say i don't want to know how it's going to go down, however, by the second or third week into the seasons, i'm reading the spoilers.

dancing in the rain...

before i show you nice pictures of saturday night, let me just put 3 iphone photos up to give you an idea of the progression of the night...

1) pre going out 2) after we got home 3) the next morning

everything was all fine and dandy saturday night. i went out with a few girlfriends for my birthday and we went to my friends apartment first (which isn't fully moved in yet..). there was champage, picture taking and crowded bathroom mirrors. typical of girls getting together.

everyday we're shuffling...

 and then it may have started pouring

and we were a little upset, but more so laughing about the whole thing..and of course, stopping to take wonderfully pretty pictures.

everyone was just walking the streets while the rain was just coming down. no one really cared. luckily, once we got back to the apartment, i had a change of clothes because we were sleeping there. we were drenched. i went to bed at 5am because about 5 other people came back to the apartment. the others dozed down around 6am. good times. and then the next morning my friend couldn't find her car keys for hours. and still can't. all in a weekend, my friends.

dolla dolla bills...

i may be 24 years old, but i have a piggy bank. i throw the odd loonie or toonie in there when i think about it, and sometimes throw some bills in there. dolla dolla bills. every once in a while, i decide to spill out the contents on my bed and count it.

it may say 'shop till you drop' but that's not what it's for.

the $60 off to the side belongs to dylan. not including his, i have about $300 in it so far. i've mentioned before that we're using our air miles for a cruise (eventually), so i will likely use this money for the taxes or towards the flight. every little bit helps, folks.

moral of the story for this stinkin' hot friday? get a piggy bank ;)

i like big gifts and i cannot lie...

besides feelin' the birthday love, the next best thing is gifts, right? ;) i was spoiled, and who doesn't like that once in a while?

and this bracelet by elle (as in the magazine. who new they made jewelry?!). all their jewelry comes with a little ruby on it somewhere, which happens to be my birthstone. so my mom thought that was pretty great. but, i have freakishly small wrists and it slipped right off :( i'll have to find something else. it's so insanely hard for my to find bangles that fit, that sometimes i just buy hoop earrings!

 a new lens! i actually had an idea that's what he got me when he said something the night before. call it girls intuition because what he said gave nothing away!

first of all, thank you for all the birthday wishes!! it was nice to open my phone and always have an email there :) certainly makes for a good birthday!

it's my birthday!

that's right. i'm 24 today! i think i'm going to like this age. it sounds older than 23, besides in the obvious way that it is a higher number ;) i've always loved having a summer birthday. the weather is nice for a patio and it's right between christmas. so it splits up the presents. muahaha.

 me, circa 1988; all between may-july. you can't tell, but i had blue blue blue eyes back then!

hopefully this year will bring good things. every other year has :) then it's the big 1/4 century next. funny thing is, every year i get older, i apparently don't look older. i get told all the time i look about 16 (and have been told that since i probably was 16) by people i don't know. personally, i couldn't care less and am not the least bit offended. when i'm 30, i'll be on track to looking 22, right?

so yay..

friday night was a time spent with girl friends, wine, food, and celebrations. all for my bff diana. we were celebrating her grad from nursing, her getting a nursing job, and moving into an apartment!

 the other girls got there a weeee bit late (ahem, 1.5hours!) so it was just me and diana eating outside...

 then they showed up, and we had a good time. and stuffed our faces.

i don't know what was in that homemade sangria (actually i do), but we were all half asleep on the couch by 9:30! a couple girls went out for a drink after, but me and 2 others went home. i was still super exhausted from my cold and i was getting one of my coughing fits (which seem to come at nighttime). but, it was a good night since i don't see my girl friends as much as i used to anymore. and honestly, i much prefer a night in like this, rather than a night at the bars.

pinterest finds...

obviously i'm obsessed with pinterest, just like everyone else. duh. (find me here). i think my favorite pins are reading nooks, home libraries, and kitchens. but this post isn't about any of those. this post is about desserts. treats. sweets.

yes, we ate a strip before i took the picture. couldn't wait!

these were delicious. oreo style rice krispies. not sure why the pinterest one is so dark? maybe more oreos? who knows? me and my mom were a fan, dylan prefers the original. they literally took 5 minutes to throw together. i pounded the oreos in a ziplock bag with a meat tenderizer (ha!). how about that, huh? (also, if you feel like making the recipe, 5 cups of large marshmallows is about 40 of them and 4tbsp of butter is 1/4 cup)

then there were these. 

i took one oreo from the package of the recipe above just to try a pop since i had chocolate melts in the fridge. as soon as i dipped it, the cookie seperated. i then read the recipe (i didn't first because i figured, "duh, how easy could  it be. stick a stick in an oreo and dip!"). they have to be double stuff. yes, that's why the stick didn't stay. oh well.

obviously, pinterest is doing nothing for my waistline. at least i'm making this stuff at my parents where i have help eating whatever i make, and it's not just me in my apartment with a pack of oreos on sticks  or in a pan.

baking fail...

you all know i love my red velvet. blah blah blah i don't even have to say it anymore. lately, i've been seeing red velvet pancakes everywhere and i decided it was finally time to make them. for dinner nonetheless.

ready. set. go.

 it made a heck of a lot of batter, i should add...

now, things were all fine and dandy until it came to putting the baking powder in. it was supposed to be 1.5tsp. as i was pouring it in the bowl, i noticed the B in the tbsp (and i was also using the 2tbsp one, thinking i was using the 2tsp and i just put a little less). what a flop. i googled what happens when you put way too much, and just how much more i put. i put nearly 6x the amount. ugh, such a bummer. who makes that mistake??? i bake too much to make that mistake. i blame the cold i had (and still have!).
anyways, you could tell the pancakes were off, but i still ate a few. however, i will attempt them again and make them the right way before i can say my final verdict ;)

so fresh and so clean...

yesterday, chloe got to go to the groomers. lucky her! she had gotten pretty long and scruffy, but as i say, it's part of her charm. but, it's summer and ridiculously hot, so she definitely needed a cut. and she now looks as cute as ever.

 she may not look freshly cut to all you, but it's a big difference hah

this reminds me of the old school 'glamour shots' girls used to get done. head looking over the shoulder a bit...

recently, a little chipmunk has been visiting my parents backyard, and yesterday chloe saw it. so in order for her to look at the camera, and not the corner where the chipmunk was, i had to say "where's dad!?" poor girl, dad's not home yet!

backyard times..,

after my mom stayed at my place for a few days, i came back with her (to my parents house) on friday. hey, i might as well spend as much time here while i have no job and no other obligations! after almost 2.5 hours of awful traffic, we made it home. we picked up dylan and just made some hot dogs for dinner. and some nice cold drinks. it was hot. once again.

after dinner, dylan wanted ice cream. and my parents kind of love him. so they obliged and we all went out for ice cream. he's got the tiger stripe and super kid (both gross in my opinion!)

then we hung out in the backyard like the fam-jam we are. and i also developed a wicked sore throat out of nowhere around 8:30pm..

therefore, the next day was spend nursing my fire throat with 3 popsicles in a row..and then a stuffed nose came. and i decided to go out to the bars with my girlfriends. and eat the most delicious shawarma afterward. and get home at 4am. probably a bad idea. whatever.

sucks that i'm still nursing this summer cold that came out of no where. but my little furry babe has a grooming appointment and that makes me happy. she always looks like a puppy again when she gets a cut and kind of looks completely different. love that little thing. 

memory lane...

another week down. i think this may be the fastest year of my life thus far. kind of sucks. however, we're now past the 1/2 way point to christmas! who's pissed at me for bringing that up while you're enjoying your summer??? hehe
anyway, while my mom was here, she wanted to go to campus (edit: it's university of toronto-UofT) and take a few pictures of old windows to get blown up and framed for the living room..we brought the little one along and sweat it out on a brutal hot day.

 i had a lot of classes here, i always found it super creepy. especially the one tutorial in the basement. eek.

established in 1853. while a lot of the campus is now new buildings, or fairly new (i believe there's about 250 buildings total), i still prefer the old ones like this..they're just not made to look like this anymore. and of course the seats are horrendous in the old buildings, doesn't it give it more heart and a past to leave the old buildings up??

my little baby girl was panting like crazy. don't worry, we went right to shade after this.

walking around and thinking i'll no longer be going through the campus streets on a daily basis anymore :( tear.
