happy new years {eve}...

i hope everyone has a good new years tonight! me and dylan aren't doing anything. we decided to hang in and i'm heading over to his place soon. we're going to have a movie day/night and who knows if we'll even make it till midnight haha i'm bringing 4 movies that i got for christmas (sex & the city 2, a charles manson documentary, ghost, and perfect stranger-the only one i've seen is SATC). also, we're going to eat a lot today i'm sure (we kind of have a lot of snackies prepared!) and basically lay on a couch for 24 hours .. sounds good to me.

doing one of those year in review posts would have been fun, but i've just been so busy that i really haven't had the time. i'm happy we have lazy plans today, we've never been really into new years big spending anyways. and as i'm typing this, i'm pretty sure i feel cramps coming on, from you know what...just great. i guess it's best that my plans were to lay on a couch all day anyways?? :P

anyway, i feel like this post is all over, and sort of random sentences strewn together in a 'paragraph'. so i should probably go now.

who knew 4 day old pups would be cute?!

ever seen a baby (like i mean really baby) puppy? 4 days old? neither have i. until a few days ago when i went to dylans parents for dinner and their dogs had just had 3 puppies. they were born on the 22nd and i went on the 26th. man they were small and their eyes weren't even open yet! and these pictures are with my new camera so they're pretty good ;) the mom is a pekingese-chihuahua and the dad is a chihuahua.

not sure how big they'll get, but 2 days before they were the size of dylans finger (!), so they're growing by the day. such cute little things.

christmas! and the best gift i got...

how am i going to do this christmas post without overwhelming/boring you with a stupid amount of pictures? i don't know..lets see how it goes...
christmas eve was at our house with my dads side..we don't do dinner, we just do nibblies, veggies, sausage, dessert and such...we played the 'left-right' game with little $5 gifts which was fun. everyone left around 11:30 then we cleaned up, i opened new pajamas and went to bed. & waited for santa of course.

i asked my parents for a Nikon for christmas..nothing else (does that look like nothing else?) they told me it was sold out everywhere and i would have to get it after christmas... sads

after i unwrapped everything else, my mom told my dad to go get one last thing..this was the moment of realization that i got the camera!! they hadn't lied, because up until a couple days ago, it really was sold out everywhere, but they found it at a 'non-big-box' store. *SO HAPPY!*

cannot wait to actually learn all the features on this baby.

then i had to do one of *these* pictures. and i waited & waited for dylan to get over so i could show him!

filled with candy!! (i much prefer candy over chocolate) - oh, and the ring in there? i had found it in toronto in a puddle and i cleaned it off and had dylan ask someone whether it was worth anything (nope) and he was just giving it back..tease! ha

then dylan opened his presents from my parents, we ate a bunch of left overs from the night before and then it was time to get ready to go to my aunts for dinner. we ate. a lot. then came home and a couple episodes of the next great baker on TLC with my parents.

i've got a tonne more pictures (453 to be exact) but i don't really want to put family on here and plus, i think this is enough pictures.

i hope everyone had an awesome christmas and it was just what you wanted (aww cheesy!). mine was perfect..besides the fact that there was only a little snow on the ground and there was no snow falling from the sky..i think it's one of the first years it hasn't snowed. i was upset. :(

girls potluck dinner

last week was our annual girls potluck..it was our 6th year doing it and we've finally now had it at everyone's house once! time to start the cycle again next year. we always have so much food and it's always so delicious. i usually call dessert and everyone is usually happy with that haha this year i made cake pops (since they all loved them at halloween and asked me to make them) and brownie tree like i showed a few posts below. honestly, i could not figure out how to make cake pop trees in cones like bakerella does. so after debate and frustration, i just made triangles. worked out just as well...although every one of the trees cracked about 5 minutes after i took the pictures :( i'm not sure why...

after dinner, we met dylan and 2 friends down at a bar. soon after it got really packed. we didn't stay very long. around 1:30 we left. but god forbid we go home..that's too early for my friends lol so we all went back to dylans place and hung out there until 4am. yikes. but it's christmas break right? bleh, i was tired as heck the next day, but i still woke up at 9:30am.

can't wait until next year!!!

i just wanted to wish everyone a quick merry christmas!!!

i truly can't believe how fast this year went...

chloe was actually wearing a hat, i put one on too after, but this is picnik'd from last night;)

i'm just typing this up as i wait for my mom to get ready (current time: 8:30am). then i'll go down and open gifts and stockings, then we'll make some breakfast, then my parents will open their stuff and then dyl is coming! better go get myself presentabe for pictures with some makeup!

christmas and black swan...

hey everyone! hope everyone is enjoying their break so far! i sure am.. i baked more cake pops and little brownie trees for my girls pot luck dinner last night- as always, good times (pictures soon). we got home at 4:30am..what is it with my girl friends and getting home at 4:30!?? far too late for me...

also, i finished all my shopping a few days ago and now it feels like christmas is coming too fast, it's already eve's eve :( it's going to be over in a few days and that makes me sad!! where did the year go?!

anyway, me and dyl have no plans for new years, but i don't really care- i've never been big into new year anyways... but i think we may go down to niagara on the lake for the day part and take a walk around- i'm hoping they still have christmas stuff up!

and lastly, we saw black swan on the weekend- i have been waiting since september to see this movie!! i guess dylan didn't know that, but he texted me friday morning; "you, me, black swan tonight? it's got everything you love-nyc, ballet and death" haha yep. i walked out of the theatre not sure what to think of it, but once i processed it the next morning, i loved it. it was a thriller, i jumped, it was freaky, a bit weird, and i just hadn't seen anything like it before. i think that will be a movie i actually buy on dvd. i pointed out to dylan during the movie that the filming reminded me of requiem for a dream-which is probably my favorite movie ever. last night i was talking to someone about black swan and i said that, and she told me it was the same director (darren aronofsky)! i may have to check out his other movies! anyways, i already want to watch it again.

so, that's that..posting is a little sporadic since my laptop still doesn't pick up my parents internet, it just stopped about 2 months ago..so i'm using their computer and none of my pictures and such are on it.

wickedly awesome cakes-for real...

i love cake. i know, unusual right? ha, not really. but like a lot of people, i love watching all the cake decorating shows on tv (my favorite is probably ace of cakes, seems like such a fun shop to work in). anyways, i was flipping through the people magazine last night and it had a spread about Nicole Richie's (let it be said-i love her) wedding. then i saw a picture of the cake and read that it was done by Cake Opera Co. and i couldn't believe it! that is a toronto company and i fell in love with her work about a year ago when i saw the artist (Alexandria Pellegrino) on a food network challenge. they were doing cakes for alice & olivia and hers was amazing. i immediately googled her company when they said she was from toronto. her work is absolutely unreal. seriously, check out her site; it's been in my 'favorites' on my computer ever since, in hopes that one day, she will be able to do a cake for me  ;)
the last time i looked at the site, she had only contact info and no store, but now there is! i may have to make my way there sometime for a cupcake or treat! anyways, i just thought that it was really cool that Nicole Richie had a toronto artist do her cake. she obviously flew her out there, the cake was not shipped ha. oh, and the cake was also red velvet...drool (i'm sure you all know by now, red velvet is the only way to go with me-i die for well done red velvet)

now that i am done exams and off school until january 10th (AHHH lets let out a big cheer!), i am back home at my parents!! but until christmas i will be busy, busy, busy....

today-hair appt; last time i got full highlights was mid april..wow, and then a bit of christmas shopping with my mom

monday-christmas shopping with my dad for my mom

tuesday-i'll make this a wrapping day, that way both my parents are at work and i can just do my thing without them being around

wednesday-annual christmas pot luck with my girlfriends..can't wait for that

thursday-grandpa's birthday get together for cake

friday-well, christmas eve!! with my dads side of the family

saturday-CHRISTMAS!! wooo, with my moms side of the family

and somewhere in between, dylan wants me to make him ginger molasses cookies. and i have to do my part for the pot luck--cake pops! and watch christmas vacation with my parents and dylan. and me and my mom usually watch the i love lucy and bewitched christmas shows. andddd  eat a lot of christmas cookies.

you know what else i love? that i have my last exam today!! that, and the fact that i'm off school and at my parents until january 10th :)

wee bit wednesday...

this is only my second time doing this. it's about christmas, so i thought why not?!



{one} did you buy a christmas tree this year?not a real one, but i needed a new little one, so yes.
{two} what is your favorite holiday tradition?i would say baking cookies with my mom, watching christmas vacation with my parents every year, ..well everything really...
{three} do you open your gifts on christmas eve or christmas day?on christmas eve, i open pajamas (that's a tradition since i was a baby) and i choose one present to open. the rest is opened christmas day.
{four} at what age did you stop believing in santa claus?i don't really remember, but i think i was older lol maybe grade 5? ha don't laugh! who wouldn't want to believe in santa as long as possible??
{five} do you fill stockings?i don't fill stockings, but my mom does and goes all out. stockings are definitely my favorite part. i get 2 stocked to the brim every year (perks of an only child!)

2009. this is what it's like every year. we are a house of 3!! me, mom and dad. + 1 boyfriend + 2 dogs +1 cat =  a whole lotta stockings.
{six} handmade presents or store bought presents?depends what it is i guess...since i'm asking for a camera and that can't really be handmade, i'll go with store bought.
{seven} do you have a favorite christmas meal?not particularly. does all the baking count? i've never been a big christmas meal person (or thanksgiving or easter, because it's all the same)
{eight} is your christmas tree real or artificial?my parents used to get real, but then changed to fake. and the one at my place is fake :(
{nine} what is your favorite christmas song?too many, but i love white christmas, winter wonderland, the christmas song..all the classics by the old folks. bruce springsteen's santa claus is coming to town. oh, and lady gaga's christmas tree lol
{ten} did you send out christmas cards this year?nope. last year was the only year i have (well me and dylan did together)

meeting bakerella!

last saturday (december 4th), the one and only bakerella was in toronto for her book signing! (i waited to post this because i wanted to see if a better picture of me and my mom would be on her site.) my mom came up for the day and ended up sleeping over too. we headed on over to williams somona and everyone was handed a number for later. i'm guessing there was about 100 people there. she came out and gave a little talk and then did a Q&A session. she was so cute and said she wasn't used to the cold and had bought her first scarf! ha! did you know she also has a regular full time job? wow. anyway, after the talk, everyone lined up for their pictures and book signing.

after bakerella, we shopped around, ate some dinner and came home and changed into our comfies. we had nachos and cheese, caramel/white chocolate covered apples (from this place-to die for), and hot chocolate and watched 2 christmas movies-1 being a made for tv movie and the other being the holiday :)
