trio date...

sunday night after a second long day of baking, i went to grab tea at this place, which i've mentioned before, with dyl and diana. i still don't like tea tho :P but it's such a cute little place. i opted for the hot chocolate.
ya, i'm lookin' pretty tired! me and mom had baked for 12 hours on sunday (!!)

 delicious hot chocolate and biscotti
and some amazing (gluten free!) cake..soo good. it was like a spruced up cornbread.

i've got a big baking post coming up. hopefully tomorrow or thursday.

remembering the 90's (through movies)...

i was reading a discussion on 20 something bloggers the other day and it made me think about movies i loved as a kid. but not typical disney movies, or ones like say, the baby-sitters club. these movies are all a little quirky and maybe you haven't even heard of a couple of them. lets see...

an imaginary friend comes back to hang out with a young girl, but she's now much older than when they used to hang out. it's hilarious. it's totally hiding in my parents house somewhere and i need to find it so i can watch it ASAP. i remember a few christmas' ago, my mom scoured the city to find me a copy and she did.

another odd/hilarious/weird movie. it was on tv about a month ago and i had to stop channel surfing to watch it.

i think most people will remember this movie. movies were so good and cheesy back then.

not sure why i loved this movie, but i did. i remember thinking the boy in the bottom left corner with the white shirt was so cute.

i remember often watching this movie with my mom. whenever it came to end part where the girls sang and danced to "if you wanna be happy", me and my mom would get up and dance around the family room too.

this movie is really weird and not very well made. and i definitely didn't watch it when i was a kid, like the rest. i think i was in high school. i don't even know why i like this movie. this (creepy) man keeps this woman in his house because he loves her and eventually amputates her arms and legs so she can't get away (he's a doctor).

clearly i have a thing for movies from the 90's. although the latest movie was 1993 and i would have only been 6, so i likely watched these towards the mid to late 90's. good times..

do you remember any of these movies? do you have any 'not-so-normal' favorite movies from when you were a kid?

home is where the heart is...

i wasn't supposed to go home to my parents house this weekend. with exams coming up soon, i was going stay at my place a little longer. plus, my parents are decorating this weekend and doing all the baking, so my mom didn't want to have to come pick me up and drive me back (yes, i get picked up and driven back every time i go to my parents, i'm lucky!). but then this morning i was wishing i was at home. i felt like i was missing out! i was talking to my mom on the phone this morning and told her i wished i was coming home. about an hour later, she called back and said her and my dad would drive up tonight to get me :) :) yay. not missing out after all! they're decorating the 2 trees today and the rest of the house and baking will be done tomorrow and sunday.

i can't wait to get home!

update: it's now 6pm and my parents are on their way. i just took this quick video with my iphone; telling chloe that she's going home soon!

wake up kitty...

for all the cat people out there, or those that just enjoy hilarious videos about animals in general. my mom sent me 1 clip in an email and then i found out there was a series of 14 on youtube. i definitely had many laughs over these videos. i don't think dylan found them as funny as i did. he mostly laughed because i found it so funny. maybe you won't either?

if you click on the video, it should show all 14 clips lined up at the bottom. if you feel like watching them all, that is. i just think they're too funny. maybe i'll do it with chloe?? haha
i don't know how many times i watch that cat say "faaaaack, you gotta be kidding me" (from part 2) HA

santa claus was here!

sunday funday. the santa claus parade. when i took chloe out for her pee in the morning around 8am, it was snowing!! i couldn't believe it. it didn't stay once it hit the ground, but for about an hour or two, the air was full of flurries. santa brought the snow with him and i was so happy.
it seemed to take forever for the parade to start and by the time it did, our feet were absolutely freezing. the rest of our bodies-super toasty, just the damn toes. so we watched a few marching bands and floats then decided to go home for a bit to warm up. thanks to the toronto santa claus parade app, it tracked santa along the route. so once i saw that he was getting close, we headed back out and within 5 minutes, there was the BIG MAN himself, waving to everyone!
 bundled up

 barbie!

 santa's workshop! here's near...
there he is!! yaaa!!
so happy. it's officially ok to start living and breathing christmas for the next 32 days :)

the season is here...

saturday morning started out with decorating my place for christmas!
chloe helped us along the way; covered in garland, snowflake hanging from the nose, an acorn wreath on her head and gnawing on a candy cane
 empty bare tree...
all prettied up
silver snowflakes and paper ones too on the windows.
the left photo: i wrapped the 2 frames i have on my wall. right photo: that's a wrapped cherrios box (flattened) and a victoria's secret bag haha. they still need bows, they're lookin' a little plain..i just haven't bought them yet.
walking through yorkville to the 'holiday magic' event
yorkville; all lit up and pretty
 starbucks and free gingerbread cookies
ivana santilli-some canadian artist. she was good, but too much regular music and not enough christmas music

then we came back and ate our delicious red velvet cake. it was sad to see the last piece go. i think the people at the bakery were a little surprised to hear that it was just for the two of us when we picked it up. what can i say? we love our red velvet cake.
pure cream cheese icing. no buttercream crap here.

you came along & everything started to hum..

while i have a paper due tuesday, i know it will be put on hold saturday and sunday while dylan is here. so that means i better get a couple pages done today!

tomorrow is our 4 year anniversary. wow, time flies. i'm totally not a sappy, pour my heart out person (that's dylans part of the relationship haha). but, i will say that i love you and it's been an amazing 4 years; i don't know that there is anyone that makes me laugh as much, and thank you for breaking me out of my shell, even though i'm still quiet and soft spoken ;) here's to many many more! ♥♥♥♥♥

we don't have any big fancy dinner planned or any gifts, we're in saving mode right now. but, there's always cards, they're a must. we may go grab a bite to eat, i guess we'll see. what we are doing is decorating my place for christmas!! yay. i've also ordered us a 6" 3 layer red velvet cake from my favorite bakery in toronto..Dessert Lady in Yorkville (we got it last year too). i've said it before and i'll say it again, that place makes the best red velvet cake/cupcakes in the city. the cream cheese icing is perfect. i'm a red velvet snob and a lot of places are crap. so i am so so so excited to dig into that for dessert tomorrow night! and so is dylan ;)

also, from 5pm-6pm in yorkville, it's their holiday magic event; they turn all the christmas lights on, free apple cider and cookies, and a little performance show. we went last year too, so we'll head over this year as well. although there is free apple cider which is delicious, we're going to pick up starbucks! it's 2 for 1 drinks from 2pm-5pm until the 21st :)

and lastly, it's THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE on sunday!!! can't wait for that. it will be our 3rd year going (one year he had to work and i was so mad lol)

see? not a lot of time for paper writing. plus it's not nearly as fun as all these christmas festivities. i'll just be losing my mind and scrambling on monday ;)
 last year on our anniversary
waiting in yorkville for the show to start
 mmm delicious cake in bed
last year after the parade, the streets were insane.
one of the first pictures my mom took of us (we had some silly ones we had taken) as an official couple. my mom is a camera whore and i was mortified lol she had probably only met him a handful of times before this
and lastly, a 2006 snowy winter night with his parents dog dori

hope everyone has a good weekend!
and a happy anniversary to us :)

look what i picked up this weekend...

even though it's only mid novemeber...
yep, my mom still gets me a chocolate calendar every year! and who doesn't love kinder chocolate!? i've always been very good and i only eat the one chocolate a day, even though it's tempting to skip ahead sometimes! (way close-up, that's what happens with a self timer ha)
so next i put the camera on my tv. anyways, i got Bakerella's book Cake Pops. yay! i can't wait to go through it in detail. while in the car on saturday night at like 3:30am, i get an email to my phone. it was bakerella's new post and i squeeled so loud in the car of 4 other people. why? because her book tour is coming to the Williams Sonoma here in toronto!! i was so freakin' excited to read that. i don't think anyone in the car had any idea what i was talking about, except dylan. i will be there will bells on and my new book in hand!!
and who doesn't love williams sonoma? it's like heaven in there. i often wander the stores, even though i don't usually buy anything. i'm pretty sure if i won the lottery, my first stop would not be to buy clothes or shoes; it would be to buy one of everything in that fan-tabulous store.

oh, and i totally bought a new mini christmas tree for my apartment. the one i've had for the last 3 years needed to be replaced. it's going up this weekend (!!) along with the rest of my christmas decorations while dylan is here!

a birthday weekend...

weekend go by far too fast. actually, weeks in general go by too fast. saturday night, a bunch of friends got together for my friend's 23rd birthday. we all met at her place before for some snacks and then headed out later on.
 our trio
some of the girls-birthday girl 3rd from the left
having a little fun (don't even ask what's going on with my face on the left). for some reason, i was getting really whited out with my camera flash last night. made for not so great pictures.
kisses-of course he has a huge smile!
well aren't we the happy couple
this girl is absolutely hilarious, had me in stitches the whole night. and i swear, dylan wasn't the only guy there!
 zebra cupcakes and happy birthdays
this was totally not planned. we just took the picture, each doing this, then looked at it, and we were like OMG haha does this one deserve a frame or what?! ha

notice the couple in the back. they were making out the whole night, like really going at it. it was disgusting. at one point,  he has his hand down the back of her pants and was grabbing her ass. umm no lol dylan just had to get a picture! (he actually went to high school with her, but she was a little busy and didn't notice him)

and then! there was a girl with the most ridiculous pouf (poof?) i have ever seen. it put snooki's to shame! i've just never seen anything like it before. did she really think it looked good? probably. i so badly wanted to take a picture, but i'm pretty sure she saw me staring and i really didn't want to get attacked by guidettes!! ha!
see the 1st picture, 2nd row? yeah, it was double that. i'm 100% dead serious. wrong.just.wrong.

after the club, a couple of us went to a Mediterranean restaurant that's open until 4am on the weekends. it's always jam packed after everyone leaves the bars/clubs in the area. it's so delicious and they give you tonnes of the most amazing white garlic sauce to drench your food in. overall, it was a long night, and i'm not really a club person anymore (i would much prefer a laid back bar), but you know, it was a friends birthday, so i'll make an exception ;)
i got home and got to bed at 4:45am. ridiculous. i'm not made for that! then i got up at 8:45am on my own. don't ask why, i just woke up. needless to say, i slept very well last night!

which i needed because today i'm studying for a test tomorrow. it never.ends. i swear.

have a good weekend!

i'm still not feeling great, but i'm back at my parents for the weekend. it was my girl friends birthday the other day, so we're going out tomorrow night for it (although i don't think i will be staying out very late). my head is still too clouded to think of anything else to say. i hope you all have a good weekend!
