busy, busy weekend

my mom came & picked me up on thursday night after class to go home for the weekend! yay...on friday morning we went to ikea, bought nothing big (except a replacement plate which i broke a while ago), and then we headed home. i had started feeling crappy thursday and by friday night, i could tell i was getting stuffed up and i still had a sore throat...

i woke up saturday still feeling the same, but the contac cold and flu kicked in pretty fast..me and dylan went to the aberfoyle antique market because it was the "fall special" where different vendors come from all over and there is more furnature and what not. i mean, ya there some good stuff like bookshelves and bookcases, but it was a lot more expensive than the regular vendors-so we went home with nothing. the rest of the day was spent laying around not feeling good, trying to write out lecture notes and eating baked goods my mom was making for the bridal shower the next day!

so, sunday, like i just said, was the bridal shower..it was my nextdoor neighbours son who is getting married (i mean, these people were like my 2nd parents growing up, theyve been neighbours for about 25 years, so their 2 sons are like my brothers)..therefore, it was his fiance's shower..
mom and me before the shower/not sure why the quality sucks!? booomoi, jan (neighbour), kathy*bride, her mom and my momso many great gifts-ie, a tonne of kitchenware!! wow..can i have a bridal shower, minus the bride part, to get all that stuff!?! hahahubby to be bringing flowers...the couple..just over a month until the wedding!

it's someone's birthday!

happy 2nd birthday chloe! she didn't love the hat..she wouldn't even 'sit' properly with it on, she just slithered down on the floor and gave me the side eye until i finally got a decent one...haha

lou lou's block party!

for lou lou magazines 5th anniversary, they held a block party on bloor street today...a bunch of stores (like winners, guess, joe fresh, puma, town shoes, banana republic...) all had sales and stuff! i knew that winners was giving away a gift bag when you spent $25, so i headed on over after my class finished-the 'party' was going on from 5-9 i think, and i made it there about 5:15.
when you went up the elevator, they had a table of cupcakes, ballots to fill out and free samples of that red rain drink...delish!
i wasnt going to buy something just so i could get the gift bag! i didnt even know what would be in there-it could have been a piece of gum and a chocolate bar lol luckily, i found a cute sweater, however it was 24.99..of course...1 penny under! grrr...so i got a bottle of hairspray (always needed..)

it was like a christmas stocking!! haha (those are the best). anywho, even though school only started 2 weeks ago, i have been reading non stop everyday, allday-its my full time job. ive done all my readings for this week (except for tomorrows class, which i will do tmrw, since the class isnt till 6 and i have the rest of the day off) and tonight i plan to take a break, watch ANTM and read my lou lou magazine! sounds good to me!!!

i thought i read alot over the summer...

apparently i was wrong...

as this is what this year brings me....8 books...and sadly, some of these books are only for half courses (ie sept-dec)...uhh ohhh....which means more to come in january...

dont get me wrong-i think my classes are going to be awesome..however, it think its safe to say, this will be the most grueling and intense year yet...i will basically be reading non stop and working my a*s off!!!

what am i doing on here?!? i have 840,083 pages to read!! haha

MTV video music awards

lady gaga is fierce!!!! ive always been a fan of her music, her crazy outfits, her amazing piano skills and ever changing hair...tonight, she did not disappoint. that performance of paparazzi was incredible!! (in my opinion)..maybe i loved it more because that has always been my favorite song of hers anyways.
then there was kanye--what an ass; say it on his twitter, or on his website, dont interupt her (taylor swift) damn speech!!
and then she had to give a performance right after...which she still rocked..

oh and what about pink-apparently she is an acrobat too!?! that was another pretty cool performance..

weekend ways

we always tend to make our way to yonge street on the weekends..some window shopping, great places to eat and really, just something to do..we went to a place called brownstone bistro
-as we passed it, we saw a sign for 1/2 price appetizers between 4 and 6 with the purchase of a drink..cant beat that...so we split a 7 inch pizza, 4 spring rolls and pitas with a 3 dip tray--all for $12, but two $6 sangrias..but really, for $24, you cant beat that..
(and may i say that the sangria was amazing!!)

star sightings...

so right now, TIFF is going on in toronto-right in my neighbourhood (toronto international film fest)! its pretty exciting..on friday night, dylan and i went for a walk around yorkville-every car over like $300,000 is out in full effect and lined up one after the other on the streets. sassafraz is a pretty hot place where celebs go during the festival, so i thought we could walk by there; and what do you know, crowds and busy sidewalks..word got out matt damon and michael douglas were inside..michael douglas came to the window and waved to everyone and although i got a picture, it was really crappy quality (my usual camera broke and is being fixed grrr). then matt damon walked outside and i got a perfect look at him (what a cutie!) and when dylan tried to take a picture-there was a little camera problem and there was no pic!! ahh anyways, saturday when we were taking chloe out for a walk, we passed the four seasons restaurant and kim cattrall was eating inside..
so although the festival only started 3 days ago-ive seen a few good faces..and hopefully ill see more ;)

time to bust out the notebooks and pens again

classes start today! im ready for it, but at the same time, i cant believe how fast the summer came and went-especially the last month-unreal.
i pretty much have the most amazing schedule ever; today i only have one class at 3..but i totally cant wait. on my to do list: get more black ink-i have none! doh...
mmm i think thats it for now; i also have to take chloe for a walk before my class, and make some lunch, but i still have another 3 hours...

the results of camping..

while we had a great time, it was a totally different type of camping then we have done before-more of an open field, no specific sites-but as long as youve got friends, food and a beach, youre set!
here are some things we did..
played bingo-1 card for a dollar and you got 10 games hahaswam in the lake-certainly not beautiful water, but it did the trick on a hot dayenjoyed corn from the bbqhung aroumd...and more...hung out with a wooden mooseand a knight too..and we ran out of plates..

now its back to reality, im back in toronto ready for school-tmrw im taking it easy and just getting a few last things ready for classes!!

camping is 'in-tents' ! !

well the long weekend is upon us..time to get back to school on wednesday. how to spend the time before? with a last minute camping trip! im picking dylan up soon so we can hit the grocery store, beer store and bank, and then hopefully we are on our way by 1pm at the latest!! im excited...more roasted marshmallows and spider dogs..mmmm

yesterday, we enjoyed one of the few days left and went out for lunch and grabbed ice cream on the water front...

the curler situation...not so much...so the unfortunate person cannot be identified..lol

that puff on top-ya-totally untamable, should have thought of that though, seeing as my bangs are shorter..not to mention, on either side, there was one piece of hair that just didnt curl!! gahhh...and my tiny little curling iron i could have fixed it with is in toronto.. (im at home at my parents..)

so, i will be waiting a while until my hair grows a few more inches to try this again...although it was worth a shot and probly would have fallen through the day-i needed to go out and couldnt with the puff on the top of my head lol

a week or two ago, i told dylan i used to sit on my bedroom floor and my mom would put sponge rollers in my hair at night...then i thought about it and i figured i still had them at home. i went home and dug them out-success! except some where in pretty bad shape, so i got 2 packages of 10 at the dollar store the other night..ive just been waiting for a night to do it (umm i mean my mom to do it lol) yes, i still cant do it on my own..

how is this going to look tomorrow? i have no idea..it could be really good or really bad; i think my hair may still be a tad to short, like i need another 3 inches or so...but, we will soon find out..

well the other day, i had to go shopping with my mom for an outfit for a bridal shower i have coming up at the end of the month..i figured i could just get something cheap at forever 21, and if i wear it again, great, if not, thats ok-bc it probably would have been under $30 anyways...but when they had nothing, i tried costa blanca; usually a pretty good store for some clothes when youre going out, not really planning on wearing them a tonne of times, you know...
so i grab a bunch of things, a few dresses, tops, skirts etc (all in my normal size) and head into the changeroom....hmmm, first dress-way to snug-OUT
next skirt in my size-again, soo tight-so i went up a size. still made me look quite large and puffy..i was unhappy...i wouldnt go up another size---stupid i know, but i was getting upset. even none of the tops were really all that flattering..the only thing i walked out with was a chunky, knit grey sweater with buttons and a tie..ha i guess thats the only thing that fit lol
needless to say, i was in a bad mood and felt much bigger than i am (i think their mirrors are even a little distorted..theyre certainly not the ones some stores have that make you look great!)

anyways, we decided to stop in RW&CO, bc even though you may pay a little more in there, the quality is better (and by no means is it even an expensive store)...i still wasnt finding much in there, and seeing as the dress idea was out, i decided to try on some pants..a nice pair of black, straight leg/skinny leg? dress pant...my mom brings me 3 pairs into the change room (size 00,0 and 2) and here im thinking shes crazy bc at the other store, i looked like a stuffed sausage in size 4; but ill do it anyways...what do you know..it ends up being the 00 i get...weird, but i felt better as bad as that may sound...ha
so i also got a little chiffon top and another grey sweater incase i get cold..and like that, i had an outfit! did it cost more than planned? yes...but these pants will last a while (and really, i needed to get new dress pants anyways), and i live in sweaters in the fall and winter..so there! its justified...
in the end, i guess a little number does matter, maybe more than i would like..hmmph
