never thought i was one to pull off this style, but i think my hair makes it work...

im trying not to blowdry and straighten it that much (its been 2 weeks! wow, im impressed!), so ive been coming up with other ways, seeing as im not gifted with naturally straight or curly hair-its just somewhere in the middle; kinda frizzy...you know..

so ive been gettin my mom (haha, ya my mom still does my hair and im 22) to put 2 or 3 braids in my hair at night after i shower..the result in the morning-wavy, no need to blowdry or straighten or fry my hair..works for me..

wishful thinking?

so last week, while i was in toronto, i was sitting on my couch, thinking about what i wanted to do that day..and i thought about going to get a cupcake-i know the perfect little place..wait a minute, that place was in nyc...im in toronto....doh i totally thought i was living in nyc for a minute...

today, while making a grilled cheese, i thought to myself, next time i go to white horse tavern and get the grilled cheese, im gonna ask that they not put as much cheese as normal; when i had it last time, although it was good, the cheese was a bit much..(in my mind, the next time im thinking ill be back is like next week maybe?) ..ughh wait a minute..once again, this place is in nyc...

surprise, surprise...

i had another (red velvet) cupcake today...it wasnt planned..i dont mean to eat this many..
let me explain..
i was at the mall, getting a picture developed at blacks..and i was told i had to wait a whole hour just to get one picture done!!
so as i was aimlessly walking around underground (theres not much in this "mall") i passed the
holt renfrew cafe ...dare i go in? in my sweat shorts and tank top none the less? lol
but i did, and there was 2 of my fave cupcakes sitting there..
the girl rings it thru..a whopping $4.15 for a tiny little cupcake with more icing than cake..
i was excited, i grabbed a seat, and took a bite...totally disappointed..
1) these cupcakes should always have cream cheese icing, not buttercream, i repeat, not buttercream...
2) the cake was not moist, rather dry, and tiny..
3) the price is just ridiculous, guess that's what you get at the holts cafe..

sadly, this cafe is cut from my list of places to get the lovely velvety cupcakes.

todays agenda

well todays plan was to just walk around the city, not really with a destination in mind, although i did want to get some black leather rope? so i could make a necklace with the little spoon i got at the flea market a few weekends ago.

i think i forgot that 30degrees is still hot (like duh!) lol and i wore pants..bah,, at least legs dont really get hot, mostly my back...

anywho, i found what i was looking for on queen st, quite happy with myself, and i made myself a necklace.

i say its looking up, because the temperature is finally going down-instead of horid 40 degree temps and nasty humidity, its gonna be a balmy 30 tomorrow!! haha if we werent in a heat wave right now, that would totally be way too hot, but now, im looking forward to it! ill take chloe to the park, do some strolling around town on my own, and who knows what else--being back in toronto is so much freer; i can go anywhere, walk anywhere, and do whatever i want, without having to hear my dad say "what about chlo?" when i want to go somewhere...honestly, he still thinks she needs to be watched like a 5 month old baby..shes 2, shes completely housetrained, she stopped chewing 1 year ago...gahh!!

anywho, im just watching 'make me a supermodel' right now, and the final 4 got a $2000 shopping spree at bloomingdales and they have only 30 minutes to spend it. one of the guys just said the best line...
"i was pissing money away; and it felt fuckin great!" haha amazing.

king of queens is on until 2am..very awesome (like my fave show-party bc its kind of, a little bit, maybe, like me and dylan, except dylan is a liiitle bit less lazy :p and im a little bit (a lot bit) less bitchy) lol soo thats what ill fall asleep to tonight...sounds good to me.

red, velvety, love

i gotta start off by saying, 1) im back in toronto for a week (!!) and 2) we are going through a major heat wave right now-starting a few days ago and lasting all week, at least. its been hitting the high 30's, with some intense humidity..its not fun!! anywho, dylan came up this afternoon and i got a craving for cupcakes and we went for a little walk (thankfully the place is quite close to me so it wasnt too far). we found the dessert lady and luckily, there was 3 red velvet cupcakes sitting there! this is by far my favorite cake flavor EVER. they were a little small for the price of $2.99, but boy were they delcious!!! and even though the icing was cold and delicious (bc they put it on when we bought them), as soon as we stepped outside, it started to melt haha good thing it only took about 3 bites. after that, to beat the heat, we made our way to coldstones. another delicious treat!!

however, not to toot my own horn, i think my red velvet cake that i made for valentines day was pretty top notch! it was only beaten by the dean and deluca one i had in NYC last week...
doesnt it look delish?? well it was lol im definitely making it again.

sunsets and sailboats

because ive been so tired all day today, i didnt feel like doing much tonight-even though its a friday night (and i have to work tmrw morning at 9). anyways, i thought we could take a walk down by the park and the water-and thats what we did! it was wayyy hot today, but the night turned out to be beautiful; we walked along the water for 2km then back, so a total 4km walk-not to shabby, perhaps we walked off some of the ice cream we ate lol
we took some breaks and watched a few boats go by...
what a peaceful night...

yesterday, i went with my friend to a new forever 21 that opened recently. i got a few things : a black tee that says 'I ♥ PARIS', some orange nail polish (even though its not halloween!), a flowy type sleeveless black sweater, and the best of all---they had just plain spaghetti tanks for, get this, $2.50!!! whoa, i usually wear tanks under tops, so i picked up a white one, black one and blue one-score!

last night was my work party-end of summer thing-good times, free food, free drinks, lots of bug bites, yup summers coming to an end. and i got a $10 tim card-woot woot

around 1030 this morning, me and my mom went to walmart to get some pics developed, then we were gonna go to get some groceries and then i wanted to go by my work to double check that i was working at 11am tmrw...so at first we were gonna get groceries after walmart, but my mom said lets go to work first then go back-so just after 12 i go in and check the schedule..what do it see? wed-11-7 UMM that would be now, like an hour ago!! haha oops totally mixed up my days, luckily the manager is my next door neighbor, ive worked there for 5 years, never been late, never miss a shift type of person ha they didnt even call me, they said they were gonna wait a little longer-lol they just laughed about it-so i went home quickly, changed and my mom packed me a lunch...on to the next point...

because we had lunch meat and cheese but no bun, she said she would drop me off and go to zarkys then bring me a bun to work. and thats what she did, but bc i was with a customer when she came, she put it in the fridge for me. when its time for lunch, i pull out my lunch bag and the zarkys bag-which had a little mediterranean salad type thing in it (couscous, diced tomatoes, basil, that kind) and eat up. i didnt eat everything so i brought the rest home and when i got home, my mom was putting the stuff back in the fridge, and when she pulls out the salad, shes like "whats this?" and i give her this weird look, thinking like, "hello, you brought it for me?!" and she said she didnt bring it!! lol OMG i ate part of someones lunch!! hahah wow awkward ... but more so funny-it was already half done, but sometimes when my mom brings me things, she will take half for herself bc she knows i wont eat it all..yup-good day i had today!

favorite line from the week there, "so if you guys are packin any heat-like machetes, mase, lighters, guns, knives etc, just do as new yorkers do and check your weapons" lol the NBC tour lady telling our group before going through security ha!

anyways, the trip was amazing, the drive was easy and the hotel was clean and great location. we were so close to bryant park which i thought was pretty cool (hello new york fashion week?!) we got in around 4pm, checked into the hote, freshened up and headed for macys and a quick walk through times square.

the next day, we took a walk through central park (which my mom loved!), went to bergdorfs to look for the marc purse i wanted and possible dresses to wear for the wedding im going to in november-big negative on both points. then we went to the mall at columbus circle and went into bebe-typically not a hue fan of this store, but wow, the amount of dresses was insane! i feel like the style is completely different there now. i tried on about 10 dresses-and although i didnt want black, thats what i ended up getting-it had everything i wanted in a dress-short with tulle underneath, kind of funky and not just plain..it was a win win-and im gonna dress it up with bright blue peep toe pumps! there was another dress that came in a close second, but i guess it was more of a party dress, rather than to wear to a wedding..anyways, youll see me in the dress in november ;) we also got a snack at dean and deluca in the mall and i got the BEST red velvet cupcake ive ever had (besides the cake i made of course ha)....then we headed to greenwich village area in order to go the marc by marc jacobs store to find my purse--i found it and my trip was a complete success!! i was pretty happy to say the least...i also got skinny jeans from the store and they fit like a glove, which NEVER happens for me and jeans...

we then had some dinner and headed from w11 down to the water and sat on a bench for a bit just looking out at the water. a nice way to end a busy day.it was back to hotel to change, then we went back to bryant park to just sit and chill, after taking pics in front of the library of course ;)
the next day was filled with seeing rockefeller centre, getting my shoes to match my dress, going on an NBC tour (kinda boring), eating lunch at the bryant park cafe (yummy!), seeing the mary poppins play-very good! we shared those plates-not both for me!

oh, and driving through this for almost 6 hours aint so bad! its quite a pretty drive...

the sky lights up

last night was just another night of torential downpour. but after the rain stopped, the lightning just kept coming. it was incredible to watch-and it lasted a good hour. the whole area would light up almost as if it were daytime for a second or two. it was one flash after another-and to top it off, it was the kind where you can actually see the bolt (like the kind that you draw when youre a kid haha) and not light alone.

flea market fun

today is the day its supposed to reach the 'real feel' of about 43 degrees-with humidity and all-yuk! so, what to do on a lovely hot and steamy sunday? me and dyl headed out to the aberfoyle antique flea market! it was pretty big, although no organization to it, so im sure we missed a lot...however, he came home with a bob marley record and i found another key to put on a necklace and also a mini spoon to put on a chain aswell..good times on a sunday..dinners cookin away and ive got cupcakes in the oven ! why i added both pics? not sure, but i think the spoon looks better in one and the key better in another? lol w/e

immm backk!!

and we had a fantastic time!! im still doing and seeing new things every time i go, and im sure it will be like that for a looonnng time! my mom and i took tonnes of pictures, i did a bunch of shopping, and i found a dress for the wedding in november...this trip was a success :) :)
ill do an actual post on the trip later..i need some breakfast !

roadtrip!

im all packed up and ready to go! (except for the stuff i need to use in the morning)...after big brother at 8 tonight, im off to bed-seeing as i gotta be up around 5 and leave at about 6!! if all goes well with traffic and such, we should be in the city just after 2pm...well stop for our tim hortons coffees, some bagels and be on our way.

shall be a good time... :)
i was gonna bring my computer, for something to do at night, but im having second thoughts--what if the border asks questions, and it ends up being a bigger deal than needed..so its probly not worth it. blah, what am i gonna do for 5 days without a computer!! at least i have my blackberry lol
